My honest opinion on why people between like 15-20 drink is just because there not allowed to, the same way people smoke weed because it is illegal. why the fuck do people do this shit.
 
i know it's hard to believe, but some people smoke weed because they enjoy it rather than trying to push some sort of "i'm cool-as-fuck" agenda.
 
really hate when i fuck up typing a thread and can't edit it. I meant to add in MOST between why and people. obviously this doesnt apply to everyone.
 
I love beer, and I love to have a good time with my friends. Can't really tell if you are serious or not OP

Thats really dangerous tho, if you get too much there is no way back. If you get too much by drinking you'll puke. Every drop of alcohol will get in, super easy to od. I wouldn't recommend it.
 
Because drinking and smoking pot when I was 16 years old was the best thing in the world.

Go over to a friends house on a Friday/Saturday night (who ever had the parents that were out of town)

Get wasted of smirnoff ice or UV blue and what ever crap drink 16 year old me thought was awesome.

Smoke some shitty ditch weed.

Then get a BJ from some girl at a party.

I'm 25 now, drinking at 16/17/18 was way more fun than it is now.
 
It's a good way to unwind after a rough day. I'm 20, but when I was 15 there was no way I was mature enough to have a beer. Hell, I started drinking when I was 19 at college.
 
what about the kids who had parents that let them smoke weed and drink if they wanted to?

I can honestly say I did not start smoking weed because it was illegal.

You'd have to be a spastic to look at drugs and say to yourself you're going to do them because they're illegal. Most underage drinking is due to the misconception that it's harmless. From a very young age kids see their parents having a drink at social events so it's inherent in themselves that they will want to drink. Same concept with weed except swap out parents for musicians.

Anyways OP I'm 18 and can legally drink at clubs and bars in Australia except when I move to Canada next year I'll have to wait a couple of months til I can drink then again for when I'm in America so does that mean as soon as I move to Canada and America that I'm going to drink alcohol because I'm underage?
 
1. What do you just automatically become some sophisticated, social drinker when you turn 21? no

2. If you dont drink at all until youre 21 get ready to puke and make a fool of yourself in front of your normal friends who can now handle their liquor

and i think people drink to get drunk when they're kids, because we all know the monotony of being a teenager.

I never thought of it that way. I grew up in Munich/Bayern were the legal drinking age for beer was 14. Europe in general (Germany,Italy, etc.) has a culture of drinking, and I feel like it's time for the US to grow the fuck up. It is the only place where you can buy a gun but not even allowed to drink a beer with the age of 18.

I mean c'mon.
 
The drinking age should be 18. I can be drafted and kill another, yet I can't have a beer. Weeds similar. Why is something that is okay and moderation but deadly in large quantities allowed (alcohol), and weed isn't? I'm not really saying weed should be legal, but when you look at what alcohol is, and what weed is (similar) both have negative effects to an extent. (both are great IMO)

So I think its really a question of why is alcohol legal but weed isn't.

Not why isn't weed legal.

History. Alcohol kinda kept us alive when Europe was a dirty shit hole. It is very, very deeply engrained in European culture.

Hemp threatened the interests of some powerful capitalists - so being the powerful capitalists that they were, they made it illegal.

No drug should be illegal. None.

of course, but the whole novelty of drinking is relevant to it's altering capabilities. that's why young people drink shitty alcohol. i didn't drink my first black bull because it tastes good, just like i didn't smoke my first joint to pretend it was a cigarette.
 
That may be true for some people, but I think the main reason people want to drink and smoke pot is because they enjoy it. When I was underage, after a I had been drinking for a while the legality thing wasn't even something I thought about regularly. You go to enough house parties that get busted and you realize how to not get cited for underage drinking by learning from the mistakes of others/yourself, pretty soon you're not really even worried about the cops.

Protip for minors: If you want to not get a ticket, don't run, don't hide, don't be a dick to police. Cops don't have time to ticket everyone at a party, they single out the assholes.
 
Underage drinking - fun as hell. 10/10 would recommend.

At 18, it's pretty much accepted. How many 18-20 year olds do you know that have never drank before? probably very few.

We don't do it because we want to be badasses. It's just fun. Drinking with your friends and getting really fucking shitfaced and maybe smashing some bottles or breaking stuff is fun as hell. The best stories I have with my friends include a shit ton of alcohol. They may not always be the most memorable per say... but nonetheless the best.

I can't speak for weed. I never was a huge fan of it. I started smoking because my friends smoked and no other reason.
 
Why underaged kids drink can be the same reason why a 21 year old drinks... they're the same fucking person

OP if you wanna be cool like me you need to start drinking asap....

Started drinking ~7th grade. Smoked for the first time 9.5th grade.

(early drinking due to european blood, and all inclusive resorts in Mex + the fact that I started growing facial hair at the start of 7th grade)

Shits dumb tho. Would have no issue with never smoking weed and waiting to drink until frosh/soph high school. Now I'm at uni and have the drinking responsibility of a 27 year old and don't find pleasure in blacking out surrounded by 19 year olds in a campus bar...

(Drugs are great and drugs suck. But in reality, they suck because they're great)
 
I drank under age because my hometown was boring as fuck and there was nothing to do. We'd go camping and drink or throw a rager in a field and drink. What kind of fun is a party in a field sober. It fucking blows, try it. (Also, Alcohol helps bring out the Red Neck in all of us)

I used to think 21 was so bad as a drinking age, but in the grand scheme of things waiting a few extra years doesn't even matter. Most people drink anyway so the age is almost irrelevant.
 
I've always been a firm believer that you can have fun while sober. I don't think we need substances in order to have fun.

Adrenaline is the best drug and is completely natural and already inside you.
 
I drink socially... sometimes that leads to sloppiness and sometimes it doesn't. As a teen in HS I'd drink almost exclusively to get sloppy. I think its a maturity thing and a novelty thing.

But really its no big deal to have a drink or a toke, it doesn't change who you are as a person, so why does OP give a shit either way?
