Under your breath

Before you go big, do you mutter something to yourself? Sometimes I grit my teeth and string together muffled profanity to get amped on the drop-in. Other times I might say "titty sprinkles" at the top of the jump to feel loose and relaxed. I bet I'm not the only one who feels numb and light-headed before going for it. I feel more connected to my body when I say something. Just curious what people do to get psychologically in the right place before they huck.

Usually it's little things like "Alright dude, you got this." "Piece of cake."

Occasionally it's little things like "Please don't die" or "Whatever happens, don't bite your tongue off" or "This is really stupid."

"YOLO"

but really I do this quite often. Can't remember what i've said though

usually before going off a nice size kicker i ask myself "why am i doing this?" and let a little sprinkle of pee out (depending on size of the jump) haha

i always tell the people watching i'm going to "eat shit" this makes me want to prove to them i won't

I can't say that I've ever tried a new trick without some sort of self commentary, normally i just say "you got this" and then once I'm in the air and I realize that i don't got this I let out a battle cry.

At snowflex my friend convinced me to frontflip the knuckle, I screamed yolo at the top of my lungs on the drop in....i stomped that shit

sometimes when I'm helping other people learn stuff I can tell they are thinking way too much so I try to find a chick they find super hot to help them think about something else. I had a friend that really liked Kate Beckinsale. So whenever he would drop in to try something I would yell Kate Beckinsale and he would yell it back.

Can't believe nobodies mentioned this yet: shouting "watch me rip the shit out of this!!" as loud as u can then regardless of if i stomp it or not i like to follow it up by riding up to a group of random and saying "hey did u see that? Yea, just so u no im the best skier on the mountain" then ride off majestically into the sunset.

i like to put this song on in my headphones:

then i usually remember that little kids can probably do the trick i'm trying. i always go with the pole clicks and the occasional "fuck it" or "don't be a pussy"

Racecar noises on the drop in makes every trick seem so much less of a big deal when you get to the lip and your cheesing to yourself about the racecar noise you made down the slope.

Mine is all in the mind. I just get psyched up until that little voice in the back of my mind tells me to drop.

I wisper psalm 23 under my breath

Psalm 23

A psalm of David.

1 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,

he leads me beside quiet waters,

3 he refreshes my soul.

He guides me along the right paths

for his name’s sake.

4 Even though I walk

through the darkest valley,[a]

I will fear no evil,

for you are with me;

your rod and your staff,

they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me

in the presence of my enemies.

You anoint my head with oil;

my cup overflows.

6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me

all the days of my life,

and I will dwell in the house of the Lord

forever.
