Under the Lift

How do people feel about skiing under the lift / or about watching others ski under the lift while on the chair? Personally, I kind of like it because I think skiing with people watching pushes me to send harder, which either ends up with a sick run or a sick wipeout.

Also, what's your most embarrassing crash / moment while skiing under the lift.

Personally it depends I don’t really like the fact that when I crash everyone sees it but if I stomp a trick then it’s nice to have other people see it. Either way it sentertaining for the people on the lift because they get to watch. I can’t think of any I’ve done atm but I watched a jerry with rentals on one day try to send it off of a small table with a horizontal rail on it. They’re tips went under the rail and they supermaned it 15 feet in the air then skided on the top of their helmet while everyone on the chair watched.

it depends what mood I’m In. If I just drank a monster and am listening to black sabbath I’ll send it under the lift but if not normally I like to be in the quiet spots of the resort by myself with no music, no pressure from other people. Just the sound of my skis slashing and turning amidst the silence of the forest.

I love skiing under the lift, park or not. Crashing under the lift is the best place to crash too. Embarrassment is all in your head kids.

I don’t really care about skiing/crashing under the lift, if anything it just makes the people on the lift hyped and it’s not really embarrassing to fuck up

Can't say we have much of an option here in Michigan. Feels like there's more lift towers than trees.

Lift runs are fun, give everyone that is watching a show. Most people on the lift are on their phones anyways IGing or taking selfies. Send it! No reason to be embarrassed.

There is a gap jump at the hill I grew up on right under the lift and when the snow is right , it becomes a pretty cool hit. Well, the snow was right this day so I lined up to hit it. I was young and didnt speed check it to see how fast I needed to drop in and when I hit the lip I knew I had went too slow. The gap is at a switchback of a cat track so you jump off one track, clear the other cat track and land the downhill of it. Well, I didnt make it over the last cat track and splatted right on the cat track like a bug on the windshield. Of course I lost all of my gear and bounced over the lip and slid down the hill a bit. Luckily I didnt hurt anything at that time but I had to hike back up with the next 50 chairs that passed me hollering at me.

You should go back and try it again to enter the splat contest

Somebody posted a while back that if you don't holler on the lift when somebody below is sending it you're pretty much Al-qaea. That has stuck withe ever since.

I hate skiing under the lift for the sake of crashing... haha. The park at the hill I go to is right under the lift typically.

I remember way back when, my buddy's brother actually convinced our whole crew to ride the chair while he waited so we could watch him drop a cliff (this was before cell phones had cameras, or kids had cellphones for that matter, he just wanted us to see). Anyway we finally come around and he sends it, lands forward and sort of tucks into a high speed roll, but then his tumbling body hits a little bump and it shoots him up in the air and his whole body whips out straight, and both his mittens shoot off like 25 feet in either direction. Damn I wish I had footy.

There’s nothing better than riding under the lift on a Pow day. Gotta let everyone know I’m the best fucking skier on this mountain

Some people I've skied with are deathly afraid of skiing under the lift. Maybe it's just the ego boost of getting the occasional positive reaction, but I enjoy it. Today I was hitting all mountain on my blades for shits n giggles and got lots of hype from the chairlift.

The other day, some random snowboarder did a backflip off a side hit, then my friend followed him in and did another backflip, then I came third and just straight aired. Everyone on the chairlift within hearing distance was like "awww." because they were expecting a giant finale. Being a crowdpleaser is fun but sometimes you gotta reign it in. I wasn't trying to fuck up a backflip on the first day of the season
