Last Winter around the end of December my friend and his family flew out to Alberta and British Columbia. We stoped at Fernie first for 4 days. There really wasn't much snow yet at the base but at the top was amazing!!!! There is so much fun shit up there I could ski there for the rest of my life. We never ran into any lift lines at all( At the most we had to wait about 2 minutes) This place was great. Our secound stop was Kicking Horse BC in Golden. It was ok, they had less snow than Fernie. I think we were all spoiled at Fernie so we thought it Kinda sucked. We skied there for 3 days. Then we drove up to lake Louise. This is a big mountain with a nice town. Again they didnt have all that much snow and terrian open. They were just building there huge terrian park when we left. But It kinda sucked there. SO I would have to say that Fernie is amazing and probably even more amazing later in the year. But I would say go there and you wont be dissapointed.
It's only about a 10 hour drive from the nearest major aiport.
