Uncertainty around skis.

And again comes the time when you realize your skis can only take this much. A good 30% percent of the soles are replaced with dirty ptex, graphics rendered to nothing but scrapes and holes and the edges are way past their prime. I've used K2 Disorderlys, a very sturdy (and tad heavy) ski at size 160 for two seasons and it is time to say farewell. I've grown a lot this last two years and I now stand about 5.10-5.11 tall and I need to size up. I've been looking around on different skis, and this is the things I've been thinking about.
I want a lighter ski, I felt restricted when playing on rails, like me feet were nailed to sticks of led when attempting switchups.
I need a sturdy pair of skis, I land tricks one out of 50 times and I need my skis to be able to take a beating.
I like rocker/camber playful skis.
So the skis I've been thinking about is:
Bluhouse Antics: 175 (or 182? Will they be to big?) They are cheap and looks like a lot of fun. My only concern is fragility, I have a feeling they might not survive for very long.
On3p Blue Steel: This seems like a really great ski from what I've heard, I am just afraid I wont treat them right, to pay 600 dollars for a pair of skis that I might not be ready for kinda scares me off.
Liberty Phil Larose Pro: Being sold really cheap online right now (like 240 at levelninesports) seems like a really light and fun ski, but this one too, seems fragile.
Line Chronic Cryptonite: Seems like a really high quality ski, but seems a bit heavy? have not touched this ski in person, please enlighten me on this one.
So please NS, give me your two cents if you don't mind.

The Chronics are a bit on the stiffer side and have traditional camber, so maybe not what you're looking for.

Blue Steeles have 2.5 x 2.5mm edges and 1.8mm thick bases, if you can find a beefier base and edge combo, let us know.

I don't mind whichever way, which is why I put it "camber/rocker" but i see how i should have phrased it differently.thanks for your feedbacks up till now.My question is not what is sturdy, I need something like a compromise between weight and durability.

Oh, I thought you wanted a combo of some rocker in the tips and regular camber underfoot.

my vote is for the antics. i have a pair and love them. mad camber, pretty lighty, medium flex. top sheet chips but so far no other durability problems

the domains are right up your alley. Bomber construction. Rocker, med-soft flex. Can be found for around 400 bucks too.

All a matter of how you measure edges. I cant speak for K2, but we measure by the actual square bar that is the edge, not the teeth that go into the ski that you dont see. If you take any of our pairs, the visible edge is 2.5mm on the sidewall, 2.5mm against the base.

Thank you for clearing that up, that makes sense. I also don't know how K2 measures them, I just know that that is what their websites claims.

i just checked a pair of K2 Apache Explorers and the edges look about 1.5mm visible, significantly smaller than my Caylors when put in comparison. they are probably 3.5mm when it includes the teeth in the ski

I am pretty sure K2 only puts their "3.5mm" edges on their factory series. Thank you for bringing this up though.

antics, mine are perfect. they are durable and light as well they are super poppy for rails. the tips are softer for nice presses and butters as well but sturdy enough for 40ft plus jumps. hope that helps

Because antics are backordered till march and I've been skiing four straight seasons on K2's I'm leaning slightly towards giving the so well spoken of blue steels a try, just for the excitement of something different and high end. Only if I can manage to convince my good natured parents to send me more money though. I'm such a bum.

take the plunge. you'll be stoked. i cant say enough good things about these skis. it's an investment in the next 4 years of your skiing.

If you want playful skis take a look at the salomon 2012s, they're ridiculously fun and forgiving because of their perfect rocker profile. They handle east coast ice perfectly and then kill it in the pow, and their swing weight is so light that it defies physics.
