yes, i love the fact that people are taking interest in this. as for canon, they are truly a grassroots company who runs out of austria, and canon is one of a few small clients that the pressing company has. I would hate canon if they became so big that they got there pressing done somewhere for lower costs and shottier product. Also, canon has zero money for marketing, and no one knows about them, unlike brands you just cant help but think about like nike, coke, mcdonalds and the gap... its not a question of 'didnt every company start out small' because its true, its just the decisions they made when they got big that frusturates me. thanks for the replys again

an issue of adbusters is a poor substitute for an economics class. it's an interesting read, but you have to take it with a grain of salt.

Good point capurnicus, however capitalism thrives in competition, massive corporationgs are buying there competitors, creating monopolies. This isnt capitalism at its best. Personally i hate the idea of capitalism, its too flawed, and it only benefits the rich by making them richer, creating huge gaps between rich and poor. Instead, as i said before S-O-C-I-A-L-I-S-M, is the way! People are rewarded with there contribution to society, and how hard they work. No money...and if it gets advanced, no supreme head of state. Believe it or not, the president is a dictator, because he has sole control over the military. Maybe not so much to his people, but to smaller countries around the world.

Capurnicus, my solution? Im just one guy... but MY solution is have localized famers breeding/growing enough organic, cattle/vegetables for there territory, people living off the land instead of taking advantage of the resources and putting the earths state in a downward spiral, thats gonna wake everyone up one day.... our resources arent unlimited. If i had my way i wouldnt let anyone in the world work before they were 14.... corporations need limits. Capurnicus, thanks for your comments, keep em comin.

Petek, socialism is already in the works in some parts of north america. For things you do that help your community, you recieve (the name of them escapes me) points that can be redeemed at participating stores. its a good thing thats going down these days, thanks for your comment petek....

IF i had a grass-roots company and could make tons of money why not? Look at Microsoft, they surely started from nothing, but since they were really smart now they are super rich..Why hold someone or a company back from being successful?

Umm no...no he's not. I think that congress and the supreme court and the constitution serve as the law which he is bound by. Bush is not a dictator...I'm sorry...he doesn't have ' sole control over the military.' He doesn't. He can't fight a whole war without the consent of congress....so he's not a dictator. I thought that is clear...its spelled out in the constitution. If you're saying he's a dictator you're saying the constitution doesn't exist...and I'm sorry...but it does.

Socialism just doesn't cut it...there's no progress. It would work on a desert island with 10 people. But in a society with millions of people it doesn't work. You're going to get the lazy people who don't work. It just doesn't happen!

COMMUNISM ISNT THE SAME AS SOCIALISM!!!!!!(the USSR, even tho was socialist in the name, was COMMUNIST) The 2 most socialist areas in the world are norway, and austria. And look at the financial state they are in, a fuckload better then the us' recession.

And what about this cut to overtime pay i am hearing about? People that are working HARDER, and MORE TIME, are not getting benefited from there companies? What the fuck? This isnt helping the majority of ppl, its helping the RICH minority become richer. While the poor are going to become poorer because of this decision. And there is no way you can argue with that, because ITS SIMPLE LOGIC. And if you say 'what about the companies, they are getn ripped off' then some1 should slap you, or you should live in a poor neighborhood for 1 year, see how fucking bad life can get. What difference does it make if a ceo has 1 billion, or 2 billion dollars, URE STILL FUCKING RICH, AND CAN BUY ALMOST EVERYTHING. What is the difference between 10,000 a year and 20,000 a year, HUGE. Maybe ure gonna rebuttle that this will help employment, and create better jobs or whatever, but that in itself is more naive. Its human nature as the reason why this wont work, exploit the workers for as cheap as you can get em, and the more money you make, the more aggression you will have to get more money. Means cheapskating even more ppl, firing ppl etc. Need an example? I have a friend who works at a bar, do you know who are the cheapest tippers? THE RICHEST PPL. Learn some sociology before you argue with this, the more you have, the less you give.

itsbackfliptime, i think iv held myself in a reasonably mature fasion throughout this thread, and for people to say that i bring up these topics 'to be cool' is ridiculous. I do it to get people talking, to hear opinions, and to raise awareness, i want people to be more concious of the world around them.

Capurnicus, you have great opinions and i really enjoy hearing what you have to say. The reason i became interested in all of these left wing politics, is because about a year ago, i had a 2 hour cab ride with a 40 year old man from afghanistan. He told me about his life, and taught me more about history, politics, and economics then i could have ever learned from a class or an adbusters magazine.
