So I was waxing my skis and I accidentally left my iron touching a dirty scotch brite pad. anyway I guess some of the dirt (it was filthy) got on the iron cause when I ran it over my base it left a short but dark brownish/black streak on the new wax. I immediately cleaned of the iron and scraped the ski, then did another hot scrape right away. You cant really see anything on the bases anymore.

So I was wondering did I fuck anything up or is it no big deal?

and if I screwed up, what, if anything, should I do to correct it?.

are they your race skis? if not, why are you so worried about it? i haven't waxed my PEs in two years and they're fiiiiine.

Haha maybe he likes to take care of his skis so they last longer?

If you handwax/sharpen your edges and tune 'em up they last so much longer...

you should just buy new ones man. but tell ya what, mail me those and I'll see if I can do anything with em, they're probably ruined.

seriously though you're gonna be aiight.

Your're fine, the only thing that could have really fucked your skis while waxing would be to leave the iron on them too long when it's too hot and burn the base.

Ok thanks guys. I was just worried, new skis and all.

And to crazyfuck- the reason I wax my skis is that a well waxed ski is much more resistant to damage and they are faster (always important for racing your friends) and if you take care of your skis you dont get the "suction effect" in warm wet snow

If while ironning you the iron got left on one spot of teh ski for too long, then in a couple days a bubbles will form on your base causing seriosu problems. I made that mistake once on my race skis when I raced, and I had to get a new pair they got fucked so bad.

lolllll

its bad enough you have to ski ratty ass PE's so why make them anymore laggier by leaving them unwaxed

youll be fine if you hot scraped them right away. chances are a little dirt got in your bases but if its on your tail youll be fine.

nothing to worry about. if there is still some dirt then take a metal scraper or a roto brush and do the whole ski and then but a layer of wax on and use a steel brush first to drive the wax into the base and then a plastic scraper and your normal thing from there. this s what i do to race skis and twins if some dirt or something gets into the base. works every time.

Yo man, if you are worried about that, then stay outa the trees, or youll piss your pants.

I like to keep my skis waxed to adviod skating and beacuse it seems like the bases don't scratch as easily when they are waxed, which is nice when you go past the ski area boundry and learn it is closed for good reason ;)

why are u worried...hittin rails fucks em up more then a stupid wax mistake..wax only helps even if u fuck up

should be fine, it sounds like its just base stuff but if you scrapped it all off, the rest will just be cosmetic.

Thanks everyone.

To everyone who said why are you so paranoid. My answer is just that I fuck my skis up enough skiing on them during the winter that I dont really want to get a head start now and incase I did mess up my skis even a little I figured fixing it quickly would be the way to go as it is I think my skis are fine. not race skis btw.

theyre fine

u just got some dirt smwaered in the wax/waxresidue

if u got it off, and no bumps or sctatches, its fine
