just saw on colbert report that the taco beef from taco bell is actually only 35% beef. the rest is filler... one of the ingredients being silicon dioxide.... which is found in sand and is typically used in the production of glass windows....

did some quick research and it seems to be true. please see the ingredients of the chili and the ground beef on taco bell's website...

is this the same fucking thing? or something else... because if this is true i believe taco bell is about to have one hell of a lawsuit on their hands.

Honestly, all fast food will fuck you up if you over consume. I doubt you're gonna get cancer off of the occasional taco from taco bell. If you really don't want to eat this stuff, watch Food Inc. I swear i stopped eating for a month.

the filler is actually mostly grains and wheat. im sure a lot of other foods have silicon dioxide. besides, everything causes cancer these days.

It only needs to be 40% by law to be called meat. It's only 4% difference from the rest of shitty fast food restaurants. Just leave them alone and let us enjoy our craptastic tacos at 2:00am.

lol, i only go there cuz i know im eating the worst thing i can possibly find... isnt tht where the hype is... but i dont rly eat there anymore, one near my house closed :(
 
i guess none of you read the wiki article since it clearly says that the stuff is only harmful when inhaled in its raw form. Its harmless otherwise... bu thatt shit is still nasty

This didn't make me want to stop eating at taco bell, it didn't even make me think about no longer eating there. The food is just way to good.
 
I will continue to eat taco bell cause it's fucking delicious. For the time being I will probably avoid ground beef and get chicken or steak type stuff until I forget about this. 35% is pretty fucking weak.

You know what the real atrocity here is? They fucking raised the cheesy double beef burrito from 89 cents to $1.29! And they made that shit smaller!

But thats actually really fucking gross. 35% beef is not meat, its 35% meat. I guess its a good thing I only eat there once every few months..

but it begs the question: what percent would he have had to say to get me/you to stop eating there? 35% is pretty fucking low.. would you still eat there if he had said 20%? 10?

silicon dioxide in food added externally? This is because the food

additive SiO2 also functions as an anti-caking agent (an

additive when added to a mixture, prevents its ingredients from binding

together). Common salt has an anti-caking agent which does not allow the

ingredients of the salt to clump (stick) together. The spices sprinkled

on the chips (snacks) also contain silicon dioxide which helps to

enhance taste.

Silicon dioxide food safety is of prime concern especially when it is used as an additive. SiO2, added as an anti-caking agent to a food product is not safe when the SiO2 quantity is more than 2 percent of the food's weight. More specifically, for SiO2

to be safe, it should be made by a process known as vapor phase

hydrolysis. If it is manufactured by any other process, then the

recommended particle size of SiO2 should not exceed the safety norms.

Mineral silicon

dioxide is indigestible and is not bio-available, therefore will not be

metabolised. Instead, tiny particles that are not excreted will be

trapped in the tissues. Excess accumulated silicon dioxide in the body

causes localised reactions: granulomas, fibroids etc. and

overproduction of collagen, causing thickening and hardening of

connective tissue. The body reacts against the presence of the silicon

dioxide further by contracting connective tissue: fascia, muscle,

tendons, ligaments etc., thereby causing either localised or widespread

contraction of the fascia/muscle matrix over the skeletal frame.

The

consequences of this are many and varied; all of which can be

intermittent, temporary or chronic. Pressure on connective tissue,

nerves and ganglia interrupts neurological function, inhibits blood

flow, inhibits proper metabolism, inhibits proper muscle function and

inhibits proper and adequate healing responses, inhibits proper

nutrition absorption and toxin elimination in tissues and can causes or

exacerbate most disorders caused by such factors.

 
Silicon dioxide is only cancer causing if you inhale individual crystals of it. otherwise its completely harmless

Everything causes cancer. stop spending so much time worrying about what to avoid and just enjoy life while you have it. everyone has to die eventually.
