Ultimate ski bum vehicle

I have a 2001 Acura MDX, which I would love to turn into a skimobile. Now I'm not talking just adding a Thule and calling it a day, i want this to be ridiculous. I'm already thinking cabinets or something for gear, and a mattress for sleeping in. Got any ideas?

first youre gunna have to swap out the tires for these

I've slept in the back of a Forester and a 94 Corolla hatchback. I'm guessing you have a similar amount of space as the Forester, maybe a little longer.

Here's my advice:

Set aside one half of the back for sleeping/dry stuff. Have a Thermarest or something under your bag, and use one of the front seats as your backboard. And don't forget an extra blanket. Your car does not insulate well.

Then, you need to find some way to keep the wet on the wet side. Some kind of plastic, probably, and a small vertical partition would be ideal. Be creative.

You should also find those plastic things that allow you to keep a window cracked without rain getting in. Then you can always have ventilation so your wet shit dries better and your car doesn't end up smelling like butthole after two days.

Basically, you're going to have to figure out your own systems. It's a little different for everyone.

Id love to have a 4x4 van gutted out and insulated. Add a couch that folds Into a bed, a wood stove, gear rack on the roof, flat screen TV, a sweet sound system, mini fridge, and some other shit

Perhaps one could modify a Thule with vents to store wet gear? Keep it (and its smell) out of the car, while still gaining the airflow and security benefit.

Better to have the skis locked up there and then spread out your pants, jacket, etc. inside however you can.

Biggest problem you're gonna face is drying your goggles out after a pow day. You may have to run the car and put them on the vents or go inside and find a vent in the morning.

this is my dream car for when i get out of school. i would literally take this over a lambo. or take the lambo, sell it and buy and pimp one of these '87 bitch

Cut vents in the bottom of it. That way your gear can drain, you get some airflow, and in the instance of rain/slush your gear wont get wet again.

Gaaaaaaaaahhh...

Came in here to post upon my lust for a conversion van, and the Quigleys etc are just so amazing they make me moist. My parents used to have a SICK Chevy Express Van with all the bells and whistles- shit was AWD and easily the best cross country road trip vehicle ever but notsomuch for off road. Captains chairs for movie watching/gaming on teh flatscreen, and the rear couch can lay all the way into a bed though- it's like the penthouse suite of the campsite when you roll up in it hahaha

I remember "camping" in it one time while a whole slew of friends car/tent camped and I slept like a baby- woke up and looked around and everything was in shambles. Apparently here was a massive storm that blew everyone's tents over and pretty much ruined camp. I had no idea and never felt/heard a thing in there. I laughed. Friends were not amused.

my ultimate bum car would be a mid sized SUV or van, fitted with a matress in the back, two ski boxes on top, and solar panels that roll out under the ski box (gotta charge up that wireless modem and router for my internet needs)

I spend a lot of time dreaming in school

so i guess its a little big but you could even have house parties in this ski bum vehicle

Up at trout lake, a month ago today, I see something like this. Little older, bigger tires. With a trailer and sleds in tow. The lady driving flags me down, and asks where the fish are spawning.
