Ultimate all mountain/pow ski? Moment Deathwish vs ON3P Jeffrey vs Blizzard Gunsmoke

I'm in the market for a new set of all mountain/powder skis that I want to take to New Zealand and Japan this Year (Old Rossi Sickles have karked it). So far after admittedly limited research, I have discovered three skis that seem to be what I am looking for. The Moment Deathwish, The ON3P Jeffrey 114, and the Blizzard Gunsmoke.

I want a ski that is sturdy enough to charge through crud, steep lines, cliffs, blower pow and also super variable snow conditions, but also lightweight enough to easily tour with in Japan and also easily spin, butter and flip off anything in the way. All of the skis sound pretty suitable but I was just wondering if anyone who has skied any of them has any advice or extra information about the skis. Also, if you guys know of any other skis that would be suitable, I would love to know, cheers.

Sturdy, lightweight, burly for steep lines, buttery and low swingweight? I can t think of a ski that can do everything :)

Jeffrey, Gunsmoke and Deathwish aren't the lightest skis on the market. but all three are sweet skis that will fit your needs. I demoed the Jeffrey 114 as well as the Deathwish, imo the Jeffrey was way more fun, more nimble in the trees and hucking cliffs felt better with the Jeffreys too. Awesome edge hold on groomers or windblown crusts... Downside:Both are pretty heavy. You can feel the weight in the air but if you aren't planning on doing bigger stuff than 5s or 7s they ll work fine.

What kind if touring set up are you thinking of? I would never save weight by using light skis. Better use a light but burly touring binding aka G3 Ion 12 or Radical FT.

Last thing: A ski that is stable enought for steep lines and cliffs, light for touring AND buttery as well doesn t exist.

I d recommend you the Jeffrey114 either with a Guardian13/ Adrenalin 13/ Baron if you wanna send big shit or with a Dynafit Radical FT/G3 Ion 12 when you dont hit anything bigger than 25 feet cliffs and tour a lot more.

Thanks heaps. Light, Burly and buttery would be the perfect ski haha. The ON3P Jeffrey does sounds pretty ideal, weight isn't a super important factor to be honest, I probably won't be throwing any big spins on them because they will be predominantly used in powder and for hucking big cliffs, it's just nice not having to huck super hard to do spins haha.. btw, will be mounting these with Marker kingpin 13's if that is useful info. Thanks again.

Although they are a bit heavier and burly, I never found them to be bad. They can't be thrown around kinda easy and I thought 3s were smooth on them. The weight and burliness helps charge too haha

Yeah, I think the ski being able to charge is honestly the most important thing that I'm looking for in the ski. Lightweight would be nice but at the end of the day if I want to do big spins I will do it on a smaller set of park skis.. probably 3's, backies, flat 3's and possibly 5's will be the full extent of spinning i do on them in the backcountry to be honest. Thanks for your help :)

The Jeffrey is my favorite ski of the three listed and one of the most fun soft snow skis I've skied in a long time. However, the Moment Bibby Pro gets the slight edge. Although its 118 underfoot, it feels no less nimble or playful than the Jeffrey. Whereas the 186 Jeffrey is a true 186 tip to tail, the 190 Bibby is only 188, so they ski very comparably. The main reason why I recommend the Bibby for you is the crud busting and variable snow performance. The Bibby's ability to bust through tracked out snow is confidence inspiring. The Jeffrey has backbone but you'll experience more deflection.

The gunsmoke is a great ski. Incredibly fun and you can always find them for cheap on TGR or STP. However, I wanted more rocked in the tail for landing switch. I also prefer moment/on3p because I have a bias to the local guys.
