Ulitmate Slopestyle

Who here has an idea of what the ultimate slopestyle/ski competition would be?

I mean, JOSS is a favorite of mine because I love jumps. Rails, not my thing. Can't ride them. No offense, i think it takes a certain skill (which I do not posess... yet) to ride rails but they are lacking a little creativity as of right now. Some people dig the rail jams, others the halfpipe... but that leaves out Big Mountain riding from the "mainstream" competitions.

I always thought it would be cool to see a competition that, all in one run, there is a technical section like cliffs and pillows, which merges into a small slopestyle, then like two big air jumps, ending with a halfpipe. This could all be possible you know... I foresee Tanner winning something like this but that's beside the point right now.

Am I asking a little too much out of this? I've done runs where I bomb down from the very top of the mountain and burn through the park in one smooth run, but it would be very cool to see the pros do something like this. It would be really cool to see who could provide the most variety on each section of the course.

Maybe I'm missing the boat and there's something like this already. Maybe most of you think this is pretty retarded because it's kinda like, but it's cool, we're on NS and I'm bound to get shit no matter what I post :)

Anyway, just hoping I spark something here or my attention can be directed appropriately.

Thanks for reading.

thats a sick idea, but i dont think it would catch on...a few years ago there was a comp in steamboat ( i think candide, simon, tj, bushfield came) it was called the bump and jumps .... it went mogul section to mogul jump to more moguls to rail to 70 ft park table. pretty sick comp. candide won of course.

I dont really agree with you but i do think they wold mix it up more. personally, I wish theyd put some rails in, and some other types of jumps, maybe a hip, maybe end in a quarter pipe, maybe add a single hit pipe in the middle, and xgames blew with only 2 rounds, def 3 or 4 so you get some banger runs.

i have the sort of comp's your talking about on my local slopes and his idea witch is dope could just be an add on to the comps like mine and yours

sick idea!

but personally, i want to see a big mtn comp in the east coast at a good mountain. like stowe, whiteface, or maybe killington.. seriously, we need one

That would be a good idea. If there is a mountain that has some pretty extreme terrain at the top, the elevation would be perfect in the east coast for a competition like this.

This was actually pretty much done last year some time I think, there was an invitational or something for a euro skier I'm pretty sure, and it consisted of a cliff face followed by 2 booters into pow. I'll see if I can find it on the home page.

This is a great idea. I thought of that before. Link's Line down Main Run down to Centre Star at Red Resort would be the perfect place for that. Link's Line is big mtn. You could have a pipe or slopestyle run down main and centre star for moguls. Whoever is in best shape wins so you also have to be in great athletic shape just to finish.

something like the Cold Rush contest but with more of  set/ shoveled booters at the bottom? i'm not sure a half pipe at he bottom is feasible at most venues for that sort thing.

I watched that bumps and jumps, here in stmbt. TJ did win. Watching Pep and Candide go at it in practice the day before was UNREAL. I had never heard of TJ before, but he was sick, Dumont was also in that contest.

Candide skiing bumps down to the first mogul type kicker a dropping into the tranny switch and doing the smoothest 180 then more moguls to a 40ft rail more bumps then the 70ft step down. it was all head to head duals. Lots of sick skiing.

Red Bull Coldrush was pretty much based on that. Guys like Boronowski, Pettit, Treadway, Dane Tudor throwing misty 7s, cab 9s in the backcountry

an ill event, hopefully theres more

that was one of the coolest events ive seen. i like the idea of cliffs into jumps into rails into a QP. it would be cool

oh, and i vaguely remember a proposal like this brought up before, it was like identical, about the BC, park and pipe, and they concluded that they needded hold it on different days because you'd need to switch skis between the BC and park events

^^ I think it would more a problem of venue than skis. It would force a skier to make a decision based on what aspect of the comp they wanted to focus on.. You can ski pow in park skis and and park in pow skis... i've seen it done haha

I've always pictured this, especially at a place like snowbird or alta, maybe jackson. Tons of big mountain, mini golf and pillow lines, with a run down to the terrain park with a huge slopestyle course(bigger than x games) then a couple cliffs and such in pow, then a halfpipe. all one run. They could change the judging a bit to allow for a couple of falls and stuff.
