UK/Europe Freeski Camps

easy all you newschoolers. i live down near gloucester ski centre, uk and however much fun it can be messing around on the snowflex, it can't compare to the real mcCoy. just wandering if anyone from the UK has knowledge of, or has even been on any freeski camps up on the glaciers of the European Alps. I did a season in Tignes a few years back and really tempted to go and suss out the general idea of summer skiing. My sister just did a season in saas fee and she says the glacier up there is pretty sick for the summer.

Also on a tangent to this, how many of us members on newschoolers are actually from the UK? seems like quite a large proportion of us here know the feeling of sliding on plastic!

Alright mate, dom from rossendale here. Looks like you could be lookin at going saas aswell!! iv just booked a months holiday (hell yes, i am now skint though) with www.britishfreeskicamps.com check out the prices quite reasonable, im going for 4 weeks self catered, with lift pass and flights/transfers for about £850.

Alternatively, there is camps on at 2 Alpes glacier run by Tourparty (http://www.lineskis.co.uk/h/n/SESSION/tour/ALL/513//)

Sickest glacier park in Europe, and pretty cheap for whats all included, awesomely run and awesome coaches

tignes is pretty awesome in the summers... sick MTB setup for off days and very chilled out with the glacier park in the mornings and the skatepark / lake in the afternoons.

there's a few camps going ... dont have the links handy but i'll try and dig 'em up and send em your way.

les 2 alpes has by far the sickest park setup here in france (and bike park too)

many camps too, just check on the resort website for more information

I think as a british person your best choice would be the British Freeski Camps in Saas-Fee as dom_rastaman advised. All the sickest british freeskiers are there.

If you want to avoid your countrymen it might be smarter to go to Zermatt or Kitzsteinhorn.

Forget about Les 2 Alpes unless you're going in June. Sure the park is huge, but the snow is useless and the crowds are horrible. Saas-Fee is way better.

The British summer scene moves to saas fee in July where the Saas Fee Ride is held, Warren Smith, Nick Southwell and the resto f the crew make a pretty sick set up, it's meant to be a good laugh as well. 2 Alpes has a good park on the glacier, tignes less so and the tignes summer season is not as long

Nah i think your thinking of pistol pete. I do believe he ate two entire bowls of parmazan last year. Thats quite some feat.

i heard that andy longley booked for hood this summer.. mainly because jamie lawson (hottest UK skier right now) is going to saas fee and that much awesome in one place could end in a catastrphe!

Check out some camps in Switzerland. I was at Glacier 3000 in November and had a blast. Chalet Budokan is a dope place to stay: Mini ramp, full kitchen, great scenery, free transportation to the hill everyday, and a good midway point between the glacier and town. The park was really good for November and chances are, the features in the summer will be just as dope. But, given that you're from the UK, you should take advantage of the strength of the pound in relation to the dollar and roll to Windell's.

Glacier 3000 in Nov looks so sick, it handily fills the post summer/pre winter gap (I believe some call it autumn, or even fall?) as well! How much did accom and passes cost you guys?

I'm heading out to 2Alpes for six weeks mid June to the end of July, not planning on doing any camps as they seem pretty pricey, might look into the tourparty thing if I am feeling flush out there though.

Fuck I can't wait, I'm working 9-5 in a shitty office and 3 pub shifts a week as well, 2 1/2 weeks to go!

Lodging was $30 per night, tickets were $49 swiss francs per day.

Good luck working away at 2 jobs! It's well worth it for glacier skiing.

Cheers man, will be looking into that for sure.

2 jobs isn't too bad when you're saving for something fun, I seriously wonder how the people I work with stay sane though, no more offices for me after this!

On a tangent, has anyone coached for any of the camps? Pros only? I have American and Kiwi park coaching quals but tbh am not actually that hot in the park.
