Warning:

-this story is for dirtjumpers and downhill mtb riders only

- some pictures, but more to come

synapsis

(newb with family trailing behind poach private dirt jumps, is sneaky and tries to do the smallest jump of the line ejects from dope ass bike scraps knee mommy calls 911 and gets air lifted out of quarry)

and now it is all gone

cuz some fat kid got a Specialized Big Hit, but no helmet, and brought it out of the garage

(ethnicities and stereotypes will be discussed at a later date)

Where do you ride?

If any of you have ever rode at Skytop Quarry ( Jamesville, NY, outside of syracuse) then you know how many years of brute labor it has taken to make some of the best trails and downhihill, dirtjumps ladders, ledges banks hips pumptrack courses i have ever seen in my years of biking the Adirondacks. Albany 518 area, Southern Vermont or West Virginia

Everytime someone new goes there for the first time, they immediately want to know what kind of carpenters, craftsman, and dreamers built dozens of ladders and moved so much earth

There are so many features and lines i doubt any induvidual truely knows every build or setup

Hundreds of jumps, yeah many of them need rebuilding, but the idea and labor has already been done

There has to be atleast 20 different pumptracks on the premisis, and atleast 3 drops over 15 feet- both manmade and natural quarry

So many square miles of the best jumps, steepest continous lines, huge ladders and massive box jumps and now there is a fully embanked out ZZZZZZ downhill run. it is so nice i can ride it on my brakeless /claim

Its a huge bummer when someone inexperienced/in over their head ruins a good thing for everyone else

Happened at my home ski area, kid on family trip with rentals bombs at a jump, breaks neck, massive law suit and boom ski area says no more jumps.

yess

wearing a helmet, riding courses in the Safe Direction, and doing jumplines start to finish

otherwise the guys that build it for the community ask you to leave

the community of joggers and other nuisinces are all ( non pork eaters ) and super rude

i broke my nose, two teeth and a wrist there hella people fucking ran away

/// maybe fearing potential lawsuit idkkk ????

welcome to life op.

you don't own the land you're building on so there's always the risk that one day you'll show up and it'll be gone.

i feel your pain but it comes with the territory. once you lose it, find another spot to build

Saratoga NY had this sick spot behind quad graphics. Nice fire pit in the foods for partying, chilling, sick dirt track to lap in the woods.

They plowed it all, put huge mounds at the front and back and paved a road up to where the fire spot was. Sucked because it was very close to spac. I used to bring people there to sleep after shows when there wasn't enough room for them at my friends.

RIP

Well sir-- i live in a public assistance aided apartment complex...

my neighbors make grills out of barrels and shopping carts.. i can say hella

I know that pain, bro. My trails got plowed by the city about a year ago. Worst day ever..

I know that feel, but you have to know when you start building on public land that your shit can be destroyed at any time due to a complaint, injury, insurance company, etc. If you don't want the risk of having trails destroyed and don't have an agreement with the landowner (even those don't always hold up very well) go deeper into the woods and keep the trails just to yourself and other builders.

you have to go there to understand how many builds have gone on there.

plus its such good continuous heavy pitch trails, with no threat of hikers or people

im just mad because this place is like my home away from home when at school

RIP Centrum Trails, while I was a shitty biker, they were fun to have around, and it was cool to see how much work people went through to further there progression and hobby

That's why you build your own trails and you keep them secret. Did you even put any effort into that trail system? It doesn't sound like you did so... time to learn how to bust ass.

Same happened to the post office jumps. Unfortunately, shit happens. Try to rally your community/PinkBike around it.

In quebec, I would constantly get my stuff torn down or burnt. It seems like the city goes out of the way to prevent people from practicing extreme sports.

Just get better at riding then you won't have to build "tressels" for it... unless you actually want to build a cool trail with elevations/ladder bridges... like this one I built in HS.
