If you go there... whats it like/how do you like it.

Im applying but from the east coast sooo i dont even know.

I wanted to go their for G.I.S but it just wasnt in the cards. Woulda been sweet as hell though.

Kiss your education goodbye with sick skiing so close ;)

I go to SFU in van, its an okay university. Pritty shity for parties and tight ass security.

Not as big as UBC, which is good and bad.

if youre comin form the US, theres no reason to go anywhere but UBC. the other schools around arent worth coming over the border to.

Its an hour and a half or 2 to whistler... so thats deterrent enough to get your shit done... that and when you get to school and figure out what youre doing... you wont be quite as tempted. i havent skied in a couple weeks... it blows, but thats how it goes. just come to UBC, its a good school and whistler is ill.

I'm going to UBC Okanagan as a third year, I think my fate is sealed(Big white AND Silverstar).

The way I see it, I have several options. I'm a pretty good student, and i am capable of A's in all of my courses. From scholarships, I can afford to get a season pass, but thats pretty much it. No mass amounts of alcohol or drugs if I get a season pass. I can still drink/toke once in a while, but not party too hard. I can use this time to study in a library if need be, and finish off those nights with some drinking and fishing(metaphor). Which does leave time for skiing on the weekends, all day on the weekends. Its all a matter of priorities, if you wanna get shitfaced 4 nights a week, then you are not gonna handle both skiing and school for 5 ski months.

The problem with UBC is once you get to the higher years (or potentially even in first year) you don't really have as much time to ski as you'd like. I'm finding that this is a big problem. Also, my workload for this coming week is enough to provoke thoughts of dropping out entirely...

There is no reason you shouldn't be able to get through first year with a good GPA and get 30+ days of skiing.

After that, all bets are off.

UBC is cool, I wish I had gone there instead of "shoot myself in the face" SFU.

any more than 30, non-school racing team related days, and I think you're setting yourself up for some scholastic issues.

But I'm pretty much a functional retard, so what the fuck do I know?

professors dont like ski racers either. youre not doing the work either way. now, my dntal surgery last week did get me a paper extension so... i guess you could always start knocking some teeth out... or lie... whatever.

I'm at 37 days, so I'll make 40 easily, mayyyyybe 50 but I doubt it. It's just that the last month and a half I've had... less than 10. You have to get your skiing in when you have a chance, because you won't later.

Also, possibly the worst scheduling luck ever: UBC finals coincide with WSI every year.

it wouldn't be any harder to focus at ubc than anywhere else...if anything a sick weekend of shredding at whis would be mad motivation to get your shit done during the week! do it up.

yea, i visited SFU and it looked like a prison in the middle of nowhere, i would never go there
