hi,

i can't get any info on what kind of SAT's UBC likes to see. are there any people here who know the answer?

University of BC?

I don't think they look at SATs in Canada for admission. Maybe that's only for Canadian citizens though, they might for American's. In that case I can't help you.

Also hope I have the right university haha.

i go to ubc, and there's a guy next door to me in residence who's from seattle, so i'll ask him when i get back on sunday. for now this reply is mostly to put the thread in my threads.

not required...if you have a really good one (above 90th percentile), it can help, but you don't need to submit them.

does anyone have any idea? i know some canadian schools such as queens wont even look at u if u dont have above a 1200. Does UBC have anyhting like that?

nice +1 post

i applied and sent my SATs. they recommend them for US citizens. that at other supplementary material (essay, activities, recommendations, etc) i got a 2070 (1370) on the SAT if that means anything to you

ya dude, i got into engineering with like an 87 or 88 or something like that... and i think that engineering is statistically the hardest faculty to get into.... so definitely apply.

Sciences and commerce have an acceptance average of about 90 percent, so no. UBC cares almost nothing for SAT scores. Your % average is what counts.

most people transfer into commerce after their first year, even then its tough i guess. its quite unenjoyable once youre in too. im sure its harder now but a 3.6 from another college used to be good enough for commerce... and like ... 1350 or something on SATs.

an a- is 90%, a c is about 70%... work with that... i think a 3.6 or 3.7 or so is usually an a-... theyre on percentage scale instead of 4 point... do the math

That's actually not quite accurate. The scale in high school goes something like

F < 40%

D %40-50

C- 50-60%

C 60-66%

C+ 67-72%

B- 72-75%

B 75-80%

B+ 80-85%

A- 86-89%

A 90-94%

A+ 95-100%

I think two (of about 250 grade 12s) people at my school had 95 or higher, maybe 5-8 had 90 or higher.

UBC will give you early admission for a higher than 92% average, I believe.

for all you kids trying to get into commerce, they make you sign a waiver on the first day giving them full rights to your soul.

for what? and of course you're not going to get early acceptance with 87, that should have been obvious. 87 won't even get you into first year science.

fuck UBC, it seems like i wouldnt be able to enjoy british columbia once i got in. seems like a school for real hard working kids. I work hard, but i dont kill myself over it. Ive got like an 86 average with AP's and shit but it sounds like commmerce isnt what i want in a school.

i am at ubc and i am a slacker. RPRSNT. I got into ubc engineering, went to cap college with a full scholarship instead, failed out fo engineering ( failed calculous) took some more engineering classes, geog and shit, transfered to ubc  for wood engineering and its sweet. MY suggestion for people who don;t like to be big nerdy twats is take it slow, take 4 classes per term, no more.....maybe even 3 classes, and plan some days off in the week. party it up, and still get your skool done eventually, no rush and no brain power. its the skier's way.

i donno where you go to school. but they are completely skewing grades so they have higher grades. at most schools an A- = between 92 and 90%. B's are the 80%'s, C's are the 70%'s and so on. anything less than a 60% is an F
