U Students get leanred..

Yeah everyone on newschoolers should go join the snowboard club "one love" becuase you are all most likely snowboarders if you are on this site.

From 2007 UofUonelove.com on an internet archive:
"The OneLove Ski and Snowboard Club is what the U Snowboard Association is turning into. The U Snowboard Association is a student group that supplies discount season passes and discounts at local shops for U of U students. In the past it was just for snowboarders..."
Translation for eHeath: "We are the Snowboard club at the University of Utah. We are sick of having less member, less successful movie premiers, and less seasons pass sales than the ski club (Utah Freeskier Society) which has been around much longer than us. Lets start accepting skiers to boost our numbers so that we can get free seasons passes"
But then again eHeath, I am sure that you would probably buy Burton skis if they started making them.

It is my belief that you along with UFS are fighting a losing battle. So you should probably both kys.

woah. What has this thread turned into. You don't need to go tell people to kill themselves. Seriously. Wow.
Anyway. There is way too much animosity in this thread. I am not running UFS this year like I was last year, mostly because I graduated in May. Join whichever club you want, or join both..or join neither. Do whatever you feel suits you.

It seems to me that UFS does give more back to the skiing community, is cheaper to join, and generally does more ski movie premiers. I do also agree that UFS seems slightly outdated (probably in part because they market more towards the snowbird/alta crowd than the 18 year old Park City skier). It also seems to me that what DHMTB said is MOSTLY true, but probably should not have been stated in this thread as his intention was likely belligerent.
There is no reason for this thread to be so hostile though, it just leaves a sour taste in everyones mouthes. Skiing is about fun, so have fun at the U and stop being so vitriolic....especially eHeath and KyleA, your rancor is execrable. And DHMTB your opinion is for the most part substantiated but should likely be expressed elsewhere.

The president skis, along with the last president, along with a ton of the people who work for the club. its a SKI AND SNOWBOARD club. Sure, they wanted more members so they added skiing, its pure business. They do ski premiers more often than snowboard premiers and like i said before, at least 1/2 if not more of the board members/booth workers are skiers. Sorry you're so butthurt that your precious UFS doesn't have a monopoly on skiers. And i would not buy burton skis.

I am pretty sure UFS had tall tees 2 years ago that were $2 extra. Last year that were $2 extra, and this year that are $0 extra...

I swear, this stupid thread happens every year! Clubs battling for pass sales. Just so all of you know, you do not have to pay to join a club to buy the pass for the discounted price, there are tons of college reps everywhere that would be more than stoked to sell you passes for the same price without charging you 10 bucks first.

I'm not battling. Just saying what I know about UFS. I also stated that tons of kids join OneLove because that is their preference. Some other members in this thread are being argumentative though.
The one thing you get out of joining either OneLove or UFS though is the opportunity to join a community of skiers, or in the case of OneLove skiers and snowboarders. You get a pretty sick t-shirt with either club, and you get discounted access to lots of events. UFS goes to the water ramps every september at a discounted rate. Both clubs offer a ton of movie premiers that are either free for members or discounted for members. It is definitely to your advantage to join one or both clubs.

I don't join either, So I feel like I can voice somewhat of a knowledgeable opinion. I will say outside of the Union, the feel of the One Love booth suits me more. They play music, have a louder tent (both in color and sound), and have approached me infinitely more than UFS about being a member.

UFS does seem to be more of the Alta/Bird/Chaco wearing type crowd. No hate, just stating how it appears.

And while One Love may have been the snowboard club in the past, I do know several of the dudes on the board of directors ski, and are good at it, and love it. And the versatility of both ski and snowboard premiers is nice. Snowboard movies are always better than ski movies, so if i'm spending $10 or $15 to join a club, it'd be nice to have the free snowboard movies as well as free ski movie premiers.

Why don't they both quit bickering and transition into just one big club, like Boulder Freeride. That shit has like 5,000 members or something absurd.

trustafarian's love the idea of a ski/snowboard club. j/k, but for realz.

OH! And does anyone know of a way to get a mid-week Brighton pass for cheap? The other day I heard someone tossing around the number $250 for midweek at brighton... i haven't seen that listed anywhere. it's still like $400 or so. If I could get midweek for that price, i'd do it up.

I think the

$219 pass is for Students T-Sat NIGHT ONLY.

I am not sure if they have a Student Early Bird Midweek Day+Night pass..but I bet if you stopped by Sniagrab or their REI brighton days they could tell you for sure.

One of the clubs might know?
