Hey, I've narrowed my college search to two universities, one being the U of Vermont. I was wondering if there is anyone out there who attends or lives in Burlington around the campus. Any info would be GREATLY APPRECIATED; anything about the school, social/party scene, academics, clubs, anything.......

Also, what are the resorts closest to the campus, and how long is your season?

...thanks....- t. west

stowe and smuggs are 30 min. away stowe sucks smuggs has a decent pipe and like a few good jumps. sugarbush is like 45 min away. Siver is sponsoring their park next year and they are trying to make it into the #1 park in north VT. jay peak is a little farther and has good snow. not worth driving to for park

UVM is a great place, just wish I could've spent more time there. Overall Burlington is just an incredibly chill place to be. There's usually a ton to do (in terms of parties and outside activities) and its incredibly easy to hop a bus and go to Montreal.

In terms of ski areas, you got Stowe, Smuggs, Sugarbush, and Mad River all within about an hour, and Jay is a little farther, but has some great terrain (Jay has a anything within the property boundries is in bounds type of policy) and as a student you can get some sick deals on passes.

UVM actually does have a good acedemic program too, and they are one of the top rated Physical Terapy schools in the country (and a benefit to being a student is a few free massages from the physical therapy students every semester - as well as many other benefits).

The only thing about UVM that sucks (aside from it can get DAMN cold) is missing out on some of the fun times that are available because you will have to study occassionally in order to stay there.

Trust me, I loved it, and even though I didn't last my entire freshman year, I didn't meet anyone who regretted making the choice to go there.

life is too short to have any regrets

something else to keep in mind, they had a good ski club as well (good trips) and often got a couple skiing premiers right on campus.

A cool little fact too, is that since Vermonts population is so small, if you are a student there you are allowed to vote in all state (and local I believe) elections, so its one of the few places that students really do have a big say in what goes on (since Burlington's population basically triples during the school year).

I'd go to UVM....... but I'D RATHER GO TO JOHNSON. There's lots of great parties because there are a number of schools in the area. and... it's easy.
