I have some housing questions for you… As you might have

noticed, the housing market in the US is less than amazing right now, as a

result my dad and I have been watching home prices, and such things in the SLC

area. At this point he would like to buy a home out there as an investment, and

a place for my brother and I to live. Along with some roommates, depending on

the size of the house..

On to the point, I have a pretty good feel for the area out

there, but would like input from people who actually live out there, go to

school, etc. what is the farthest

away from the U students would want to live? If you guys could give me some info

about where most of the upper classmen live after they move out of the dorms that

would be great, thanks!

Is just south of 80 to far? Sugar house? What is to far away

from the U?

Thanks, Justin.

both of those areas are farther than I would want to live ideally. sugarhouse could work, below 80 is pretty darn far.

anywhere from like 5e to foothill (1700-3000e) and mid aves like 300n to about 2100s is a solid section to live in.

foothill and 13e. traffic can pretty much suck dick at any time of the day from my experiences so 80/sugarhouse area i dont' think would be the best i know i wouldn't want to live down there if i was commuting to class..unless it was a day or two a week then maybe it wouldn't be that big of a deal

Personally i wouldn't want to rent my house out to college kids. While it seems like owning a house near the U would mean your house is always rented,I dont think it would be terribly hard to keep a house rented in any somewhat desirable neighborhoods in SLC as low mortgage rates will allow you to keep the monthly rental price pretty low. If I was to rent my house out, college kids would be a last resort to fill the space. Just my two cents...
