The Pros of the 3 stage rocker featured on the LL2/One Life is the contact points you have at the end of the running surface. When you are skiing on stuff besides powder, it feels like a normal ski, shorter yes, but you have a solid running surface with contact points where the rocker starts, but the rocker does not affect how the ski and sidecut works and skis. With continuous rocker you are taking away the contact points. Obviously in powder it will not make much of a difference. I prefer the 3 stage on my Live Life 2's, it rips everywhere and in every condition. Also with smaller continuous rocker the effect will be less than that of say, the hellbent with huge continuous rocker...
think about this with LL2s- if you are going to wheelie out, you have a big flat surface that keeps you stable when you are too far back so you can get back to being centered w/o wheeling out(because the rockered part is flat). With a ski with a shorter, but sharper rise rocker, it really is like skiing a shorter ski because if you are going to wheely out than that little sharply curved rocker isn't going to help. Does that make sense? It's a good thing. I can try to explain it differently if that doesn't make sense.
so i just started researching surface a few days ago and have been really interested ever since. im pretty sure im going to be getting the one lifes, and since i didnt know much about surface untill now, i cant see the web or any specs for last season, so im wondering did they have the one lifes last season? and if so did they make any changes to the '10 model?
i would say yes but the new life's rocker is very gradual so its not going to affect the ski negatively that much, it just uses width for more float rather than relying on rocker..If you are doing tons of drops all the time then they might actually be better just because of a little bit wider waist and bigger platform to land on..
ive skied JJ's, ARG's, pontoons, Live life 2's obviously, EP pros, hellbents, last years obsethed for one run, and my dad's self rockered scratch bc's from 2 years ago. i think thats all, why?
Hopefully this works. New Life Is the left of the middle two (Live life is far left) and 189 One Life is on the right of that. One Life has bigger rocker, but the New Life has big tip/tail rise. Apparently both start at the same point on the ski (Rocker length is the same).
