yo, saw a previer for the two towers and it looks real damn sick. who else thinks that lord of the rings is the best book/movie ever.

Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,

Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,

Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,

One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne

In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,

One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them

In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

Definitely one of the greatest story of all time, or up there anyway. It makes me wish SO MUCH that I could live in a world where good and evil is defined... where men still have courage and honor. :)

And the movies are damn well made, I'm glad they're sticking to the story so well. Can't wait for the Twin Towers... I'll need to dress up.

if you guys liked the tolken books you should read the riftwar saga by raymond e. feist, I'm not much of a reader but I read these suckers twice.

best movie ever, best work of art in the past 100 years, and aragorns the coolest guy ever. everything in that movie was perfect, from the sets to the direction and it was a travesty that it didnt win best picture, and yes the trailer is sweet but the 1- minute one on the dvd is better

i dont know about best movie/book, but it is definately one of the best stories as kami said. i was very impresed by the movie, but its hard for it to come close to the book without it being 6 hours long. i cant wait for two towers to come out, the scences from hells deep (i think thats the name of it) look great.

the movies are good but the books are amazing!

sweet movie so far, even sweeter book. I'm not going to watch the trailer for the two towers if I can. I want all of the visuals to be completely new. I already read the book so I have no need to watch the trailer. i know it will kick ass, so i don't need it to be hyped up for me.

Well, as far is the book goes, I think it is the best work of fiction I have read to date. Tolkien did an amazing job of not only telling a story, but creating a different world, that has quite a lot of similarities do our folk lore. I think the guys is a genius.

As far as the movie goes, I think that I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't read the book, because first of all, it skipped quite a bit. Of course the book was really long and it would have been an extremely long movie if they covered everything in the book, but I still missed the scenes with Tom Bombadil, and quite a bit chopped off from the trip to Rivendell...also they left out a significant amount in Rivendell and Lothlorien.

One thing that I was surprised at how well it was done was the how they brought out Boromirs plight, I thought that would be hard to convey, but I think they did it well.

As far as the literature is, the Two Towers in my opinion was the best book of the three, so I think the movie will be good, plus half of it is battles so it should be sick. I am interested in how the Ents will be interpreted.

If you like Tolkien check out the Narnia chronicles and Lloyd Alexander books.

Just watching the previews gives my goosebumps. Yeah TT is going to rock. My only regret is how the girls flaunt over Legolos...

yea, i would have enjoyed the movie a lot more if i hadnt read the book right before i saw it. the movie was very good, but just doesnt compare to the book.

i love the movie...i have the DVD and the soundtrack and stuff...it's awesome...love the books too..i read all of em..

i can't wait for the two towers to come out....december 18th!

It's a really good story, but as far as sci-fi goes, there is a lot of stuff that's better. Don't get me wrong, I know it started a lot of trends and is one of the best series of books ever, but if you like LOTR, you should try reading some other sci-fi. There is a lot better out there.

We have an old saying down on the bayou....Blehhhhh!!!

I have never seen it or read the books... I am a loser. no wait I am not a nerd.... I used to make fun of that fat kid in my class that sat at the back and read the lord of the rings books... but then he kicked my ass. so I stoped. man I hated being the smallest kid in my class. I didn't grow till like grade 11! man. I suck.

its an amazing story, but i find the books hard to read. they're enjoyable but still hard. tolkien was nutz tho! he actually made the language 'elvish' or so ive heard. can anyone confirm this?

he not only created the elvish language, he created an entire world with a full history and present. with languages, family tree's, different culture's/religions/traditions. an amazing piece of work. and how could you think the stories are hard to read? they're pretty staight forward.

and is it sci-fi? i'd more just think of it to be fiction/fantesy-adventure, fuck i don't know, now i'm just trying to sound smart.

yea, they really arent hard to read.. the language isnt complex at all and its a simple fantasy story. what was the 5th book about middle earth that told the history? i think its starts with a S.

ok I finally gave in and rented the fucking thing... the only problem I had with it was the ending... or lack there of... like what the hell was that? it was like - ok we are sick of having a movie... we will just end it right in the middle...

'I love packing the fudge!' - Jon Reedy as he drives his windowless van by an all boys preschool class.

haha, thats because that is where the first book ended. the story wont end until the third movie is over. now due to all the suspense you are going to have to read the next two books.

The Lord of The Rings Trilogy is the best set of books ever, and the movies are gonna kick ass. yeah, if you wanna see a two towers trailer, check out the movie trailers section of quicktime.com and the first movie was unbelievable.

Its not a trilogy, its one book split into 3 volumes. Thats why the books/movies seem to end with a complete cliffhanger. Its because the story hasnt nearly ended yet.

I just picked up the books rececntly when I was on vacation. I read them over again. That book basically set the standards for fantasy stories forever.

In regards to the movie. I was rather dissappointed with the exclution of Tom Bombadil and such. But hey, the movies are already long enough. And they sure did keep a lot of the rich detail that made the books great.

The fact that they kept 'real' elvish is an amazing fact. Its not like other made-up languages (like the shit that the writers for star trek did with klingon and vulcan and shit). Its actually a real language. With real rules, and real vocabulary, and real syntax.

The problem that I have is that a lot of people are viewing it as 'childish' because of the marketing being done. Its not childish at all. Its very deep.

Oh well... enough nerdiness for the day.

Thanks Lineski, yeah I just figured that out a few months ago because until then I had always thought it was 3 books, which is the way it's being printed these days. Thanks for reminding me yet again of Tolkien's genius.

WOW. Andy you are a huge booger eating nerd.

Klingon is actualy a language by the way. you can take classes at some universities in klingon. the guy that created klingon also created the language the atlantians used in the disney movie.

hey, JayDC7, the book you're talking about is the Simarillion, and it details the entire history of middle earth up until the time when lord of the rings takes place. It's truly an awesome book. As is all of Tolkien's work.
