Two person card games?

Looking for fun, two person card games to play with my better half. Not crazy complicated nonsense but more complicated than war though. Just want a cheap activity to do with my girl, drink some beer out on the deck and not spend any money going out. I know there are card websites but its pretty hard to go through the million games listed and decide whats fun or not. +K for any help.

The best thing to do when nobody knows how to play the game is to just hand out random cards and start making rules up on the fly. So much more entertaining and you don't have to spend the time to explain how the stupid game works.

Rummy is for 3+ people (where you play points, and pick up piles of cards), straight Gin (one pile, one card choice if you want it or not) is for 2 and where its at. Could play it for hours.
