My parents have nothing to do with the matter. Your beliefs are there is nothing wrong with homosexuality. Mine are that there is. So we disagree big deal. I have not called your beliefs bullshit at all ive just said what mine are and why i believe them. if you wanna believe something else go for gold. It would be a shot out of a canon but id bet your parents have similar beliefs to yours. What if i told you i had two dads? Then would change your mind at all? nope. I chose to be Christian myself my parents had nothing to do with that. And i have normal parents btw

There's little doubt in my mind that same sex marriage and a number of other gay right measures would be passed if only people under the age of 40 were polled. So this in turn, to me at least, suggests its on its way but really? really? Get over the stigmatic, antique view of 'gays' and realize that much like the rest of the population gay people are diverse. Certainly I can understand why you wouldn't want kids raised by the most flamboyant gay man alive, but I certainly wouldn't want a child raised by the most conservative man alive either.
 
I don't completely agree with a same sex couple raising a child, in my opinion, there's some significance to growing up in the presence of both sexes. One big difference, obviously, to being in a straight sexual relationship rather than a homosexual one is having the ability to reproduce. Humans are a species that are based on culture, unlike other animals (who also show homosexual behaviour) humans regulate sexual activity with cultural rules, rules like how to behave in the midst of a sexual partner. If a growing child is not exposed to man/woman interactions throughout his/her childhood, then that child is restricted to only seeing how a same sex couple can function. This makes it hard for such a child to develop the necessary social tools they need to co-operate in a sexually diverse relationship, and ultimately hinders their ability to have kids. This doesn't stand out as a major issue to me, seeing that a large majority of the human population is straight (I'm too lazy to look up statistics), but I think it's worth mentioning. As you can see, I'm not solely basing my opinion off of a prejudice against homosexual individuals, but instead the fact that this type of a relationship has the potential to harm the human population as a whole. Our species hasn't progressed this far by avoiding sexual reproduction, and since there are customs associated with the physical act of reproducing, I don't understand why people simply think that the effects that these types of relationships have on the world will be negligible. We can't all of a sudden just change our way of living after centuries of successful reproduction and expect the same result. I see the logic and reason behind this argument, and a 3:00 minute youtube video definitely won't all of a sudden change my world views.
 
What's your point? There's a very small population of Jews compared to the rest of the human population. Does that make it wrong to be Jewish?
 
Yes it does, a single straight parent will still probably go on dates, see the other sex as attractive etc etc. Unless its a single gay parent then his logic is flawed
 
I'm pretty sure the argument that the human population needs to reproduce is irrelevant in this day, we just hit 7 billion people in the world. Why not let people who choose not to reproduce take care of orphans?

No, not at all. I know you stand very firm on your position, but I think you should take what I said in context. I never argued that it was wrong to be a minority, I argued that same sex marriages can have detrimental effects on human reproduction, and therefore the human population as a whole. A larger body of straight couples will raise kids that are more likely to reproduce, therefore weighing out the effects that the gay couples have on the population. That's why I said I wasn't overly concerned with homosexual couples raising children.
 
Ate some this morning just for you. And the reason we couldnt use to eat it is because that law was to promote cermonial uncleanness etc when entering the temple (pork and shellfish have alot of parasite etc if not cooked properly) But since jesus died to save us (which you probably dont believe :) ) the need to enter the temple to make sacrifices is gone gone gone. So pork and shelf fish are fine now
 
You cannot pick and choose which rules to follow. If you ate pork this morning, logic dictates that according to your beliefs in a particular set of rules, in this case the ones listed in leviticus, homosexuality is just fine. congrats, welcome to modern society, where homosexuality is perfectly normal. how does it feel to no longer be an indoctrinated bigot?

 
I don't have time to read the whole thread but...... The world is overpopulated as is, and we definatley have wayyyy to many people on this planet. Gay couples and lesbian couples are less likely to have kids, which is probably a good thing in today's day and age.
 
Haha I just read this again and was about to mention it. I'm willing to bet that the straight kid with two dads is just as likely to have a wife and kid as the straight kid with a mom and dad. Saying that a kid with gay parents is less likely to reproduce in the future is fucking stupid.

With the divorce rate in the United States being 50/50 now , it really astounds me that some people have the balls to say that straight couples deserve more rights than gays.

NOW, heres one thing i will explain that you may agree with (hopefully). The concept of MARRIAGE as far as i know is a Christian idea. They have rights to it since they invented it and its a huge part of christianity. Recently the idea of marriage has gone main stream as the way two people become officially united. Christians and non-Christians get 'married' all the time. So if you want to say that gay people cannot get 'married' since it goes against the people who invented marriage, then fine. I cant argue with you on that.

But if you say that then you also have to say no non-christians are allowed to get 'married'

That said I think it is necessary for parents, regardless of whom they raise their children with, to understand that their children should have both good male and female role models and influences. I think homocouples need to be especially aware of the gender influences available to their child. There are things that a father will teach their child, that a mother would be less capable to do so, and vise versa.

if it was the way nature was suppose to work. you would still be able to reproduce without other means.
