Twin tip skis with good carving ability? do they exist?

Hi, I'm new here

I'm looking for twin tip skis, wich can be used on pist for carving and making speed

I have the need for speed on the piste , but I'm eager for "stunting" onpiste and offpiste...

So ... is there a perfect allmntn ski (with a twin tip please) , or wich skis come close to those demands ?

thanks in advance

Line used to make some all mountain skis with twin tips- I think they were called the assasins?

Or salomon 1080s- the space frame ones were pretty good at carving.

I have a pair of Völkl Karmas, and my previous skis were Atomic GS:11s to give a point of reference.

The Karamas feel like they give up almost nothing to the GS:11's for speed and stability, and to top it off they return a lot more energy out of each turn than the GS:11s when you push them hard.

You get the best of both worlds in my opinion. Something that glides along at speed, but with all the freeskiing goodness of a twin.

thx for the quick responses :)

I've always been intrested in the 1080s , but allways when i'm convinced, someone starts telling me how bad and unstable they are at high speed

I'm quite an agressive carver, and I always pull the max out of my skis, so I go quite fast

so I'm afraid those (also the karmas from above) won't be able to match :s

I'm not good at jumps(I'm a starter in the funpark) , but lately I do them more and more.

rails are going good ... but the fact that I don't have twin tips on my carve skis really bothers me

grtz

I have the rossignol oversize 8s ; and I'm happy about them, great carving skis! but at high speed a little unstable, and crappy grip on ice :(

to give you an idea what skis I'm used to :p

I was looking for the Völkl unlimited ac3 or supersport allstar , to replace them, but then i feeled the need for twintips and funpark abilitys

I believe they are known as "Head skis". Yes, yes that was it... "Head".

Karmas are exactly what you are after. They are considered a great, highly responsive carver that are miles ahead of 1080 and should not even be put in the same class.

This ski recieved top ski awards from two different magazines in two different classes.

Just rocks.

I'm an agressive carver too and I find my Pollards (04-05 186cm) surprisingly good. Then again I'm a pretty big guy so maybe they won't work for you...

Public Enemies carve really well if you keep the edges sharp. I like carving with them and I think they carve well. I'm no expert.

i like how they carve too, but that lasts about a day or two if you slide some rails or boxes

foils are a good ski and carve nicely. I own them and like them everywhere. However, just for reference, they really cannot compare to my old atomic c:9 for stability and ease.

Heads....i came from racing ski.....and they carve like mad......they have very little to no flex.

Ive been skiing with the Rossi Scratches for about 4 years now, and i can tell you that those skis are great in and out of the park, especially the new collection, which are a lil bit stiffer than the previous model.

you should really get head or volkl.

i know people are saying line, liberty, etc. but the fact is that none of those skis will carve as well as a head or volkl ski. they dont have the race experience or technology background.

Pe's are sweet i have them used em for a week everywhere fucking awsome ive also heard the karmas were really good 2 but i havent used them

I demoed the 1080 Foils before I bought my Karmas, rode my Karmas, and then demoed the K2 Public Enemy after that to keep from trashing my Karmas due to barely having any snow on the slopes.

This is coming off of years riding on racing stix before switching to snowboarding for a few seasons and then most recently switching back to skiing a couple seasons. For those two seasons I rode on Atomic GS:11's which are one hell of a racing ski.

Of the three... 1080 foil, Karma, and PE... the only one which carves... in the high-speed, stable, graceful, locked on-edge sense of the term was the Karma.

The 1080's are the most "fun" of the bunch in my opinion. Very light and easy ski to be lazy on due to their softness. The PE was a good middle ground, though they felt heavier than the Karmas and didn't return as much energy... lacked a little "pop".

The 1080's would be awesome for just screwing around on the whole mountain, the PE's would be great for a little more aggressive all-mountain, but of the three the Karmas are going to work best if you're really looking to push the limits on your skis for all-mountain.

FYI I'm planning on buying an older pair of 1080's or 720's for as cheap as possible to bring along with my Karmas for times when I just want to be lazy hitting little things on the slopes and runnin' junk moguls.

They're all very good skis though.

Volkl Karmas is you want a little fatter ski

head mojo, check them out, they rip. Use alot of technology from race skis.

just get a race ski i

i dont want twin tips to turn into a sport like snowboarding were you get them because there cool just get some race ski's if you want carve.

uhhh... don't be a dick, he clearly said he wants to get into freeriding, it's not up to you to determine who's elite enough to partake in a sport you don't own...

and check out some mojos or karmas...I've heard nothing but good things about both....

The skis I'd recommend would be the Head Mojo 80s, Volkl Karma's, Liberty Stealth, or 4Frnt MSP Supermodels.

All these are stiffer skis. I have experience with the Mojo 80's and I come from a racing background. At times I think they are a little too stiff, a little tough to initiate, but they are locked in when they are.

All the other recommendations are based on the fact they are stiff and alot of reviews. The Supermodels explicitly say they are geared towards kids who have raced and want a stiff ski.

Yeah at some point I'd love a chance to ski on some Mojo 80's or Mojo 90's for the comparison.

They're definitely stiff as hell, even more so than the Karmas, which are already a super stiff ski.

if money doesn't matter that much, get karmas because they are super stable and will plow through anything all over the mountain. other than that, head mojo 80's are ridiculously good carving skis but cant compete too well in powder and some crud becuse of their width.

HAHAHAHAHA

I'd go with heads for a racing type ski. They are stiff and very stable at high speed. Though I have Head Airs, and they don't make those any more, and everyone loves head!
