TV hookup question

i'm looking to buy a new tv which i need to hook up to my computer for an extra monitor to watch tv/movies etc. I have done this in the past with svideo cables but this new tv I want doesn't have an svideo input. It does have multiple HDMI inputs though.

I see there are cables with DVI on one end for the computer and HDMI on the other to plug into the tv. Would that work as a way to get the display onto the tv? On the TV images there is a plug for HDMI-DVI In so it seems like it should work.

if the tv and computer have hdmi ports then you just gotta use a hdmi cord and youll be solid

yeah i checked that my desktop doesn't have an hdmi spot. i think a DVI to HDMI conversion will work fine.
