Turbo= huge let down

why haven't you liked the level 1 movies? do you not like park, the style of filming, editting, style of the riders?

Personally, I think Turbo is sick.

was not the biggest fan of turbo... still enjoyed it though

out of what ive seen this year

1. Massive

2. Reasons

3. Such is Life

4. Journal

5. Hunting Yeti

6. Turbo

7. The Fine Line

bahaha, that's awesome. Yeah I personally think that Turbo was one of the better ski movies ever! My ranking is:

1.That's It That's All

2. Turbo

3. Such is Life

3. Claim!

4. Slamina

5. Reasons

Those are the only ones I've seen I think..

Hit the nail on the head for me as well. I would come on here and hear about how unbelievable some level 1 movie was, buy it, and be completely disappointed. I think the editting is really weak and it looks like it was shot by ams. Consistantly just a tripod set in one spot with the same session over and over. At least break it up or change the angles.

Usually there is only one segment that blows me away, and i dont think that i should be paying $30 for one segment (it will be on youtube eventually). Word of mouth made S6 sound like this groundbreaking film that was straight from the hands of god, except it wasnt at all. LSS built me up huge with it's trailer and dropped me flat on my face. I fell asleep first time watching it as well. Turbo might be different, but as he said, there's no way Im paying for a level 1 movie until they prove me wrong.

That being said, IMO Nimbus knows whats up. They are taking things in a direction that I can totally respect. Without even trying, they have innovated the way everyone else is shooting (everyone is going for Idea-esque shots and tricks now). But this is all subjective and while Im not saying people are necessarily wrong in what they like, I just personally feel like Level 1 has some sick skiing, but the filmmaking feel am to me.

the putting me to sleep part.

most of the riders kill it. so it can't really be that

the filming has gotten better, but it really was nothing special the last few years. might be that

The editing and song choice is probably it, I keep the same shot over and over, For example the urban segment in LSS, with Cedric and JF houle. I think. It would be rail one. trick one from ced. trick 1 from JF, trick 2 from ced, trick 2 from JF, all on the same rail. Often from the same angle. I just saw a 270 on, yes its a cool trick but, it is not completly different from when I saw it three seconds ago. The BC jumps were also pretty repetitive. there was nothing special about the jumps. and you keep seeing the same jump again and again. who knows maybe Turbo is different if it is and I see it I will agree that level 1 has brought it back to what it once was. I do kinda want to see it just so I can see exactly how hard they got worked by AK. that would be funny.

I find that really odd. I can't really relate since I really really like that style of editing, rather than each rider having their own segment and seeing the same features once every 5-10 minutes(yeah Level 1 is guilty of that too).

I dunno I just really like how level 1 shoots skiing, always love the music they use, and I can always count on the riders throwing down harder than any other film crew.

I guess you can't please everyone though.

turbo is by far the best movie of the year. Sick park, urban and back country. Journal was the biggest let down of the year after hunting yeti but that a whole nother story. Everything in turbo was stomped so hard. All the back country stuff looked sketchy at best. Dont get me wrong there was some sick stuff but i just really did not like that movie at all. Turbo kicked ass.

i completely agree with you guys. its just that wallsich's, dadali/wesson's, hornbecks's, downey's segments make the movie worth it. it is still a level 1 movie just as much as any of the others

Sorry dude..

1. Get Lucky (Deffinatly the sickest filming and editing with top notch skiing!)

2. Turbo (Sick, but a little strange song choises, and not as sick filming..)

3. Such is life

4. Journal

5. Reasons

will wesson slides the lower bar on an urban rail..blind 2 out. you know how some rails have another bar running parallel under the one that you use? he slid that one

My reasons are

Turbo has park skiers trying to ski back country. Level one needs to stick to what they know and thats park. Let the other companys do the back country deal cause they have real riders who know how to ski not just jump on a rail and do way to many switch ups. Im just fucking sick of seeing pretzle after pretzle. The under grind was fucking sick as hell though i will give turbo that. As was the 360 switch up on the handrail done by ahdmat. But Journal had some real skiers who could shred. Skiers who grew up skiing pow and its very apperient

That is all

YO YO JB (JOSH BERMAN) TOLD ME HE WOULD FILM ME NEXT YEAR...SUPPOSEDLY (I DON'T KNOW IF TIHS IS TRUE SO IT'S PROBABLY A HUGE CLAIM) I'M THE ONLY TELE SKIER HE'S SEEN ON SNOWBLADES..SHIT'S HOT

All the movies sucked this year, when compared to Thats it thats all.....there not even in the same ball park!!

And Dear Newschoolers, wallischs zero wasnt that amazing, its just a zero spin.....thats how there done, i know at least 25 guys who do that every time they do one!

Turbo was really sick, and for all you haters, it was a little different than level 1's past movies.

i dont know why but that cracked me up like whoa, +karma haha. im sure you want it seeing as how your other posts are usually so polarizing...

I didn't think his part in turbo was even as sick as his part in that dos media edit from hood. It was sick because it was Wallisch but I felt like he could have repped harder.

Are you def dumb AND blind? Are we talking about the same Tom Wallisch Turbo segment? Wallisch did like 15 different tricks on that hood jump, TEXTBOOK, and then went on to do more ridic shit on urban rails then most of the best pros do in the park. Best park/jib segment of all time. Fact, not opinion. End of story.
And for the guy who thinks his friends do better zero spins, you're battling hard to get into the top 5 ignorant posts in this thread, which is no small task.

Oooooh I get it! You saw a different Tom Wallisch in another ski movie also called turbo, it makes sense now.

thats it thats all- super sick but it wasnt skiing so i cant judge it against other ski videos
Also if the hunting yeti webisodes 1,2,3,5 were just put together and sold on a disk they would be 2nd but the video sucked dick

And to the thread maker FUCK YOU

I thought Turbo was good but not as good as Realtime.

Alot of the shots were sick ,but I didn't like the music really.

Tired of hearing about how movies were a let down. What do you want? Seems like every year all the movies and athletes step it up, otherwise they wouldn't be making movies for us to watch. I've found when you watch something for the first time you have a pre-expectation. When you don't get what you wanted to see your pissed cause its different than the past film you watched 1000 times, after watching them a second time You will see what you were missing from your first clouded judgement.

So is Journal a lot of cliff and tree skiing (ie ratalack style)or are there a lot of the big mountain shots from a far camera distance?

As much as I love the AK lines and all it kind of bores me when you have the camera soooo far away and all you see going down the mountain is a little pin drop. Example: tanner busting that HUGE 3 off of the AK line and the only camera angle covering it is a mile away. (side note: i loved Massive/ Tanner really mixed it up good throwing the urban in there too, and ratalack and pemberton were sick) Maybe logisticaly speaking it's just too hard to get the close camera shot/

It's the reason I dont buy the TGR most years, too many long range camera shots of gys ripping a big mountain line over and over (maybe if they mixed it with a helemt cam or something.)

how can you say that. it greatly surpassed my expectations even though my standards are high for level 1. wallisch's seg was unliike anything ive ever seen. hornbeck was amazing. the whole vernon seg almost made me cry. there wasnt a boring moment in the movie.

in will wessons part he grinds the bottom rail of an urban that has two rails, one on top of the other, he then 2's out right before he gets fucked by a support rail.
