I think that will be a little too late... the snow's gonna suck (probably) and the fire trail will be bare, only grass and rock. Hitting it now would be better.

your in for a great adventure, the hike isnt hard, i wore skate shoes, but pack lightly.as far as the snow, 4/20 is a great time to go. what is the fire trail?

if your in to it, build a hip booter near the picnic rocks, youll have to bring ashovel and work, but its hella worth it.

 
in tooks weeks the snow should be great, avalanche danger went up after that rain but its comin back down, the snow in there lasts a while, def build a booter after you take a run or two and just mess around for the rest of the day, its a good time

fire trail is the 'sherburne trail' that leads from the ravine back to the bottom at pinkham notch visitors center, across from wildcat. If you go early, you can ski most of the way down, but as the spring goes on you have to hike back down with your skis and boots on your back (which is alot more work, especially with tired legs and wet socks)

they have a crazy base of snow, somethin between 100-400ft cant remember my numbers but its in the hundreds of feet for their base

the shureburn trail is still open right now, but it probably won't be in a couple weeks.

they have a website for all the info you need on avy danger and conditions.......if you dont mind the hike, then go for it, but its not as steep as everyone says it is and it is a real quick run.

down by the lunch rocks if you're there early enough. only time i've been up there was in LAATE july 3 or 4 years ago, had a snowball fight!! but the little patch that was left there was about the length of a carpet lift........ steep, but short.

i wanna go in a few weeks, i'm trying to get a couple of buddies to go with me........

i remember looking up from the lunch rocks and just being like DAMN that's steep...... but it must flatten a little when it fills with snow, as it's really packed in from pictures i've seen

yea there is a place to build a booter. not the whole thing is that steep, just the headwall. theres a huge bottom area where you could get enough speed for a good sized jump just depends though. id bring a shovel personally. ski it before may now till then is the best time, ohh and watch the weather consistanly wait for a high pressure system to move over it so there arent many winds and its sunny and clear so the snow is soft.

tucks is perfect right now, still alot of snow. most everything is still covered, sherburne trail can be skiid to the base. fuck building a kicker up there, there's so much more to do, get up there soon cause the bottom of sherburne will be melted out pretty soon, lower snowfields are prime right now as are hillmans and duchess etc.
