Just kidding, but seeing as how summer camps are WICKED expensive, i was thinking me and some friends should go and have a late spring/ early summmer sesh there.

but i really have NO clue how long snow stays there for. anyone know? i live in VT by the way.

so any info on how long snow stays at tuckermans for usually?

peace im out

dude what they should do is bring snow guns up there and blow the shit out of it all year like every day they can and then it will start a glacier.. how awesome would that be think about it.. skiing all year round in the east

late april is the absolute latest you want to hit it, it can be as dangerous as midwinter with undermined snow and crevasses and whatnot. I go in early april each weekend until late april

ive been up there a couple times in june and there was no sign of snow, but i dont know if it was like a bad winter the two summers i was up there or not, so idk.

you should be able to find a ton of good info by just searching through the forums in various tuckermans threads. just google tuckermans ravine and there are some real helpful websites as well.

you might be retarded

oh and may is prime time for tuckermans ravine...

ive been up there a couple of times, just make sure you plan for good weather.

best time IMO is early april. plenty of snow, but not too much to cause much avalanche danger. it's a lot of fun, if you read the tux article in freeskier, it captures the experience pretty well. there will be a ton of people there all just having a ton of fun. it's like a small community in the wilderness. be careful though man, shit can go down really easily, it's A LOT steeper than you think.

i plan on going for a long weekend or a few days with a bunch of friends and camp at the shelter. this is after we get out of school, so prob second week of may. regardless of snow amounts, well be there.

i used to go to camp at the base of mt washington and have spent many summer nights at hermit lake....ive been up there in early august and have seen people skiing on a 6 in base. that was about 10 years ago when i can remember skiing wildcat on thanksgiving day and having all the trails open. as said, i would go in april to get the best/safest coverage

"ok kids today we are going to learn how to not check your speed by building a jump over a crevasse"

yes man. becaus I am POSITIVE and you must be too that this is how it works.

flat flat flat (all with no snow)

70 degree pitch straight from the flat and only snow on it! think a bit bud.

There's actually a tenative plan to have a camp there in the spring. I talked to mark synott a few weeks ago and he said that he wants to do something like that with big tents set up at the base and then you could ice climb and ski or whatever

Last year there was enough snow to ski into July. Now a lot but plenty to build little jumps. 2 years ago I went a couple times in april and it was prime. Now a lot of rocks showing but enough to build jumps off torwards the bottom. I don't think that the rangers would allow a full on camp. too much risk. although it would be sweet to get 15 or 20 people to bring a boat load of stuff to make jumps. I don't know maybe even bring a taboggon and lug up some stuff for rails

yea this is all i really want. just in early summer be able to hit some jumps. possibly setup a log or w/e is tehre to jib. ya know. put a 10ft pvc rail in teh car haha

if you guys are talking about skiing it then im alright with that but bring a rail up there and seshing it? thats ridiculous you guys are retarded

i think you people should really think and know your shit before you post stupid ass shit like this. Tuckermans already gets 60 to 100 feet of snow a year. That is because all the snow blows off of the snowfeilds above it. If you have a base as large as that and you think a tiny ass snow gun is going to add to that your retarded. I think you should take a hike in tucks in the the summer before you say anything about a snow gun because it is completly different. There isnt even really a bowl in the summer it is basically a big cliff.

haha why, just throwin a pvc pipe in the car and tehn riding it at the basse where theres little to no snow? whats wrong with that.

I did not say we are all hiking up to the very top to build jumps and set up rails at the top of tucks DID I?
