Tuckermans on Sunday

I plan on going up this Sunday... lots of powder. Conditions are super sketchy right now, but I'm thinking by Sunday they will cool down a lot. It will be something decided Saturday night as to whether or not the hike will work out and its strictly dependent on avy conditions. Would anybody be down to go? It would probably be smart if you have hiked it before since it is early in the season and have some sort of beacon, probes, etc. PM me and we can figure details out if you are interested. I'll be driving from Northshore MA if somebody needs a ride from around there.

ya man i might be down i was goning to go last weak but they got a reverse snow pack which is super sketchy, im asumming you dont have avalanche gear so be careful if you do go up.

Oh you should be alright then. but you do need someone to go with you.. this thread almost convinced me to go this weekend since im itching to get up there again but unfortunately this weekend wont work for me :(

here's the report as of today

Tuckerman Ravine has CONSIDERABLE and MODERATE avalanche danger. The Lip, Headwall, Bowl, and Right Gully have Considerable avalanche danger. Natural avalanches are possible and human triggered avalanches are probable. Be increasingly cautious when in or under steeper terrain. Left Gully, Hillman's Highway, the Lower Snowfields, and Little Headwall have Moderate avalanche danger. Natural avalanches are unlikely and human triggered avalanches are possible. Use caution in steep terrain.

Having gear doesn't save your life. A reverse snow pack is a reverse snow pack. Tuckermans also provides the worst possible natural conditions for avalanches in the country. If your gonna hike, please hike the chutes at the very least

While you guys are mostly on point, step back and take into consideration the most important question you should always ask yourself before going out. If I were stuck in a slide, do I fully trust the person I'm with to have the skills to find me and pull me out safely?
For everyone's safety, consider the mental and emotional maturity of the person you're going into the woods with. If you've never met them, then you can't answer the question and it should make your answer to the above question obvious.

YOU CAN TRUSTZZ ME!!! ZZKJNOMNOMK:ZKJ And I'm emotionally good and mature!! If you get stuck in that there snow i'll pull ya out. trust me I know exactly when to pull out.

Naw, conditions were bad all week, but they actually looked decent Sunday. Sucks for me. This Sunday I plan on heading up with babujib$. Anybody else down?

eh, probably a good call. with all this warm weather tucks is gonna be prime here on out. I'll be camping at the base of the bowl in april sometime and i was thinking we should have an epic ns + friends campout up there for a night?

yes homo

holy fuck thats weird after i posted i was thinking to myself hmm i wonder what the weathers gonna be like on 4/20

we'll have to play it by ear date wise but im totally down for that

I will back Adam on this. He is pretty much the most intelligent skier I have ever met and has really skied EVERYTHING the East has to offer.
If he suggest something, I'd listen for sure, plus this is just common sense.

Was there last Saturday with MacMahooon, Bangor, and CS_Films. Tucks is MUCH lower on snow than they were in the past. The biggest danger right now is other people. Within an hour, there were 3 slides in left gully, 1 on the chute, and 1 on the headwall. All were human triggered and big enough to knock skiers down.
