Tuckerman headwall fall

I was at tuckermans a few weeks ago with my dad and it was sick. the hikes a bitch but overall it was pretty awesome skiing. I tried the lip first, not too bad- steep, but overall easy. Then i had a red bull and traversed over to the viewers left hand side and climbed up there. DONT CLIMB IT. hikes a bitch, takes about 45 min and no grip with ski boots, let alone any snowboard boots. When i got to the top, the red bull had really kicked in and i traversed over to the head. hadnt seen anyone drop in on it all day, and there werent many tracks down it. i picked what LOOKED like the easiest way down and ended up above a chute narrower than my skis above a 30 footer. I tried hop turning into it, caught an edge, and went down. the pitch was probably like 65 degrees and i was flying head first towards a boulder and this 30 footer. All of a sudden, something whipped me around and i started cartwheeling down the slope. Before i knew it, i was in the air for what seemed like eternity, before i landed on my back and kept cartwheeling down the hill. When i got my senses back everyone there (about 200 people) were applauding and screaming and shit. FUCK IT WAS SCARY. nearly died.

anyone there that weekend or have other stories from tuckermans?

 
I want to go ski tucks, really badly. That sucks for you man, nice to see you survived.

timfortucks.com says the headwall has been measure at 55 degrees in some places, thats gnarly by the way, shits dangerous, lucky you didnt fall into a crevasse, when i went up there last week some park ranger guy with dreads living at the lodge told us that if we fell into a 80ft crevasse (covered by 2in snowbridges that you cant see) that the park rangers wouldnt even try to save you, but i dunno the deepest i fell into was only thigh deep

yea he said snow doesnt hold more that 55 degrees, it was prob 45 degrees, but thats sick man, if u got that on film i would eternally love u

um sum areas of tucks do reach 65 degrees so dont go by the one place but an edge will hold side slipping at 55 degrees

snow barely sticks at 65 degrees, at 60 degrees a 6ft tall man can touch the hill with his elbow standing straight up.

i just got back from tucks today, and this guy hiked all the way up the headwall and he dropped one of his skis and it went ALLLLLL the way down to the base of the bowl

I gapped all of tuck's i built a 3 foot booter up top and switch rodeo 1260'd it. where is tuckerman's? east coast right?

yea, tucks is 50 degrees, i think snow will slide if its more than a 55 degree angle and cause an avalanche

tucks is dope...i was there and this intense dude hopped a 30 plus footer then straightlined the entire ravine to the base...the whole ravine went nuts....like 1000 people absolutly flipped and it was like a fucking stadium....a very good time
