ok first of all, there is no bomb in the world that could cause a tsunami like that. second, the idea of a nuclear bomb triggering an earthquake if it were set off on a fault line, as far as i know, is purely speculation. i don't think it's ever actually happened. it possibly could trigger a small earthquake, but not a freaking 9.0. finally, north korea does not test nuclear weapons in the indian ocean or anywhere because they do not have nuclear weapons (yet). north korea has tested ballistic missiles, but not with live payloads. at this point they are in the process of building facilities that could enrich uranium to a grade suitable for weapons, but (we hope at least) that they do not have enough nuclear material to build any kind of significant arsenal. they have NOT tested any nuclear devices, ever.

That quake in Chile was not on the surface either. The disturbance happened underground. Could a the most powerful nuclear bomb do have that kind of impact halfway across the world? Fuck No! Look it up for youself and try to prove yourself right. You are the dumbass. You're right, it not about tsunamis, its about the sheer power behind the force. They are very different, but in all reality, a large tectonic disturbance is of greater force than a hydrogen bomb.

I asked my physics teacher about this, he said hes not exactly sure, but he imagines if they were to just detonate a nuke underwater, it would cause a wave, not of these proportions, and not the same type as a tsunami, it would be high while in open water and therefore would lose power quickly as it travels. The reason a tsunami can hit places thousands of miles away is while in open ocean the wave is long and low, and therefore does not lose much energy, the wave and expolosion underwater creates is much different, plus the heat from teh nuke would more than likely cause most of the water aroudn it to evaporate not into water vapor, but to revert back to its elemental states of hydrogen and oxygen.

That article is so stupid. And to anyone who thinks a bomb of any kind can cause a tsunami or anything close to the disaster we saw, you are not smart either. The earthquake that caused that tsunami released as much energy as the entire U.S. of mother fucking A uses in one year...PLUS 30%. people in Africa were killed for christs sake. No way a bomb can generate nearly as much energy as tectonic plates. O, and the warning center was not in in India. It was actually in Boulder, Colorado which also houses jibij proshop, if i am not mistaken. How fucking stupid is that.

It snapped off, killing entire nations of west coast natives, and it sent a tsunami all the way to japan where it wreaked havoc there too. The phenemenon is predicted to repeat itself in about 25 years. Not a long lifespan for vancouver and seattle. Japan is ready, they have built a huge rock wall in the ocean, a breakwater. now dont be an idiot and come back at me with 'Oh yeah, They built HUGE rock wall in the OCean thats 500 feet deep, yeah right youre an idiot'. please dont insult yourself by saying that.

Anyway, when I wrote that earlier I was under the impression that you were implying the possibility of nuclear use. Which I disagree with and it now seems you do as well. And actually creating an unnatural disturbance of an underwater fault line is a little more complex than simply dropping a bomb nearby (particularly if that fault line shows little activity). Repeated stress on the fault would be a more likely way to cause a catastrophic disturbance, but it could be possible to trigger something with a sudden force. However, that initial force in itself would need to be far greater than something that even 200 times that magnitude of A-bombs that were dropped in Japan. The bombs would also need to be placed in a very precise manner...but I'm going to deeply into this.

Oh yeah, you don't need to worry about my saying 'Oh yeah, They built HUGE rock wall in the Ocean thats 500 feet deep, yeah right youre an idiot.' I'm well aware of breakwaters. In fact, there was something in the news several mouths ago about a large cargo ship that had accidentally hit one of those walls. It is true that 'You are your experience.'
