what he is talking about, jaross, if i am not mistaken, is the global press. we all know that no country outdoes america when it comes to charitable donations, this being no exception. and yet, there are foreign news channels that are blaming the US for the tsunami. thats right. it is the immoral lifestyle of the US that caused a tsunami to decimate the nations along the indian ocean...

anewmorning, I agree with you that for the past hundred or so years the U.S. has been the biggest charitable donor to causes worldwide. I'm not making the case that we should always make a point of outdoing other countries, but I wanted to note that Japan, Germany and Australia have pledged more to tsunami relief efforts than the U.S. (Australia topping the list with a whopping $815 mil).

thats true kami, however it should be noted that those figures pretain to dollar ammounts pledged by the national governments. not that 800 mil is anything to be scoffed at, but its the american military with their war ships and choppers, and man hours that are primarily handling the distribution and the actual logistics of the thing. the costs of running those heli's and having our ships sit off shore is millions upon millions of dollars per day.

japan and gemany have pledged a grip of money, but its the americans who are puting words into action, by and large.

we also have to look at the donations of the citizenry. that was more of what i was talking about when i was mentioning being a generous nation.

this thread is so pointless, your all going on about how you should give money but id like to know how many of you have goven money to tsunami funds, id bet at very few if any. i havent given any money but im willing to admit its cos i dont care enough.

if you guys care as much as you make out dip youre hands into your pockets and give them something but no you cant be arsed.

iv got a hilarious joke about the tsunami thing aswell but judging by the tone its not the right time. if you want to hear it make yourself heard and i will deliver.

Umm the generosity is awesome its just the sheer destruction all the money in the world though helpful cant help if they dont have the ppl and time needed to help them such as doctors and Red Cross efforts
