How do they do the shots that look like a heli shot, but there's no way it can be a legit heli shot? I'm guessing a remote controlled model Helicopter?

Yeah I remember when they posted the thread showing the test shots, it is a remote controlled helicopter with a t2i I think on it? I'll try to find that thread.
 
awhile ago i would always think about attaching a camera to an rc heli and now its a reality, and with super dope cameras too.

RC heli shots come out SOOOO good if you know how to work it right
 
They used a remote control helicopter from this guy in Whitefish. I wish I remembered the guys site because there was some seriously cool photography on it.
 
speaking of did any one see trent ps new heli reel. Posted it on c5d. Has some sick new shit that the previous one did not.
 
You guys are absolutely right! The shots were done with an HMC150 on a remote controlled helicam. A company called GravityShots.com met up with us in Whitefish one day during the end of the season. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't cooperating with us very well (as you can probably see from the footage), but we made it work anyway! It was really windy that day and at one point the heli got caught in the wind and started plummeting towards the ground. Lucky for us (and the HMC150 strapped to the bottom) Jeff at GravityShots has been doing this for years and he corrected the freefall to make a nice little landing right next to the jump. It was a fun day messing with shooting helicam follows - we learned a lot about the process and are hoping to include it more in the next project!
