trying flips

I got into freestyle skiing a few years ago and i've pretty much perfected my spins and grabs. I really want to try some flips. I can do them on a trampoline but cant work up the balls to throw one. What is the best kind of jump and how would you try your first flip?

just do it, its simple dude 'you dont know until you try' and always huck the first couple attempts to make sure you get around

Whatever way you want to flip just throw your head in that direction to ensure that you get around and don't come up short. And dude they're not that hard. try a couple backflips in the pipe if your at least a decent pipe skier

Good jump for backflip: kinda steep lip, should kick you like 5ft in the air, 12ft long. Front flip, little less steep but definitely needs some kick, 12-15ft table. Just commit, if you can do that stuff on the tramp you can likely do it on snow, dont freak out. Youll likely throw your first one, come close to landing it and think 'why have I never done this before, its so easy.' Charge.

ztry a backflip, just pop off the lip pull your knees to your chest, keep you're head up to spot the landing, and thrust your hands forward if you are going to overrotate

I flunked out of school cause i'm hardcore.

And this whole time i thought my penis was just inside out.

backflip, hump the air and try as hard as you can to look at your ass... it really works...

hrm... is it really similar to a trampoline??? cos if so I should be a kick ass jibber..

I've got the same problem here, accept most landings on our jumps are ice, and at the place near my house it's really icy, then never touch the park once they make it, or groom it.

P.S. I can do tons of flips on a tramp but I have no gut on ice.

i just threw my first back this past sunday, its not as hard as you would think, i just went for it and didnt really think about it, just tossed my head and looked for the landing, i didnt land it the first couple times but i did after that, so it was pretty sweet, just dont think about it to hard

ya, its a good feeling when you finally land that shit

Kevin, Trampoline helps alot and gives you great air sense and control, that many others won't have

But not to burst your bubble or anything, but just because you can kick ass on a trampoline doesn't mean you'll be able to throw all those same tricks on skis.

On skis You're moving forward, have to throw things a hell of alot harder and there is a greater risk involved. You know that when you throw a flip on the trampoline that even if you land on your head you'll most likely be fine. But on skis if you don't commit or just end up hitting hard, you hit hard.

So it's not the same; however, if you have a good approach off of the jump, once you are in the air doing a flip it feels very similar.

Good luck you guys, and have some great skiing!

Eat. Sleep. Breathe. Ski.
