Tryin to choose an backcountry ski

I'm trying to figure out which skis would be the sickest for skiing backcountry but also can hold their own on groomers/park (hardpack). Like 5'10, 150lbs, and ive been thinking about the scratch brigades or volkl gotama's but im not a gear pro so let me know about other sick stuff
 
i would go with the brigades. they are such solid skis all around. they kill it in the bc and are good for park too. they dont chatter at all when you set em on edge on groomers either.
 
Anthems are a symmetrical park ski, so I would not go with those. Bacons would be a good choice if you want a softer, more playful pow ski, and they apperently rip quite good on groomers.
 
Not sure if you noticed this but in the title of this thread it says "Tryin to choose an backcountry ski.' That would be grammaticaly incorrect. It would be "Trying to choose a backcountry ski" This is because when you are putting an indefinate article in front of something the rule is if there is a word starting with a consonant after your indefinate article you put a. The only time you put an is when there is a word begining with a vowel right after your indefinate article.

i have some scratch bc's which i think are the same as brigades but idk. anyone confirm? and they rip everywhere ive taken them so far. they are also lighter then my friends gotamas which makes them better for hiking.
 
a "backcountry" ski is a pow ski that he can also use in the park and groomers, so in other words hes looking for a fat-all mountain ski.
 
I have the gotamas, the white ones, and I like them a lot. They are super light and are excellent on the groomers. They are not center mount, so skiing switch in powder is a little iffy. But they are chargers. They are fairly stiff. I have the 183s and I wish I wouldve gotten the bigger ones.

I would look into the kung fujas as well, they are shapping up to be a pretty sick looking ski. I have not ridden them, but from what I hear they are similar to the old Seths, which were super sick.

Maybe you should look at lib techs too, Ive only ridden the park ones, but they were super fun.
 
ANTs are death in the park. They are an absolute weapon everywhere else but they will kill you in the park. Bad recommendation from whoever posted.

Though I have some fs if anyone's interested.
 
Also, something like the 07JvJ will be a brilliant choice, Scratch Brigade, Mojo 100 (still around?), Moment Ruby and Dynastar Big Trouble (awesome fun) will all be worth looking in to.

Assuming your a fairly strong skier

scratch bc or k2 SETH in 179 (minirocker is awsome) i have ridden both and they would be a good choice
