Trunk Mounted bike racks

Currently driving a small sedan and Im getting tired of putting my Mountain bike in my trunk. Does anyone have some suggestions when it comes to Trunk mounts? I don't have a trailer hitch and don't want an overhead mount Right now

Make sure you get one with 6 straps, stay away from the cheap ones with 4 straps that you see at Target. Best bang for your buck would be the Hollywood E2 or E3, Saris bones is also good but more expensive. Also if your trunk has a spoiler or big lip take that into consideration. There are some units that will clear that like the Baja or Mighty Joe.

I have a rack for my wife's car similar to this.

my moms got that bike rack on her camry, Ive put 2 mtb on and driven up a windy road back in the day with it. Would recommend.

Be mindful of the following:

-these rarely hold a bike securely (especially if your bike has lots of odd shaped tubes or is a full suspension mtn bike)

-your bike is now in a prime location for damage if you get rear ended (something to think about if you have a really nice bike)

-you can't properly lock your bike to these, so don't leave it unattended

Have you thought about putting a hitch on your car? They're generally not much more than $100 for sedans and are often bolt-on, meaning you should be able to install it yourself. It'd definitely end up being more expensive than getting a trunk rack but it'll be much more secure.
