"Donald Trump’s lawyer says he has been indicted. The case involving payments made during his 2016 presidential campaign to silence claims of an extramarital sexual encounter is the first criminal case against a former U.S. president.

Trump, who has denied any wrongdoing and has attacked the investigation, was expected to surrender to authorities next week, according to a person familiar with the matter who was not authorized to discuss a matter that remained under seal.

The grand jury indictment of Trump, 76, is an extraordinary development after years of investigations into his business, political and personal dealings. It is likely to galvanize critics and embolden supporters."

After a 8 years of hate promoting from Trump and Fox, normal people just tuned out and looked for something else.

Did you know the US government protects Trump with the Secret Service? What happends he is guilty? Prison is impossible for a former president from the safety risks. So does he go free, even if he is guilty? House arrest or solitairy? So many problems are so more concerning if trump is convicted.

White collar crimes deserve to be punished. The hush money to stormy (Giuliany spelt it out perfect on Fox Hannity), the loan frauds, the Jan 6 insurection and influencing the 2016 kentucky state election by harrassing the governor. He should also be indicted for the Ukraine extortion ( that thing he was impeached the second time for?

As far as Republican presidents go, this is pretty weak. Reagan's election campaign sabotaged President Carter's negotiations in the Iranian hostage crisis by secretly meeting with Iranian militants and telling them to continue holding 70 Americans hostage until after the election so they could get a better deal when Reagan was in office.

Republican politicians have a long history of traitorous behavior but its not surprising given the GOP was founded on the idea of sedition and destroying America, hence why it was formed a couple years before the Civil War. Paying off a porn star? Pff, what a nothing-burger.

But he paid it out of campaign funds and allegedly lied about what it was for. What it was for doesn't really matter it's the use of campaign funds and the intentional misreporting thats the issue here.

Indicting someone on an 8 year old misdemeanor turned to a felony on a technicality is not a slam dunk case. Throwing the book at someone with no priors doesn’t work.

Any defense attorney would be chomping at the bit to pick up this case since it’s so likely to be dismissed.

I’m assuming that they know the weight of the situation and would not take such measures unless they had substantial evidence to do so. We’re talking a former President of the United States. Its not like a civilian trial that the DA is rushing to court because they are overloaded with cases.

That being said, this has a high probability to go to the Supreme Court. Brett Kavanaugh and company would undoubtedly dismiss their pal.

I think it's the entire opposite and every member of that grand jury voted to indict so they can get a book deal about how they "saved democracy" and stopped Cheeto Mussolini.

It took 2 years 1000+ hours of investigating and a Supreme Court decision to release the tape recordings proving Nixon did sanction the break in just to impeach.
