Truck thread

04 gmc 1500 extended cab short box. No mods yet except tires and level kit. Will post pic later

only pic I can find of how it looks now (toolbox and new tires). This truck has taken me all around western canada, been some prety cool places with it

My ultimate goal is to get it ready to get me wherever I want to go on/off the highway.

This means I plan to keep it IFS, and only put a modest lift on it. I only got the small V8 so I'm going to have to keep the tires around the 35 range in order to give it a decent gear ratio for dirt and the highway. I have had no troubles yet with the LSD but probably will throw an auto locker on if I see one cheap.

Of course before I do any of this I'm buying a winch because as it is this is a decent truck for mining/logging roads especially with my new tires.

Anyway...I don't drive a truck, but my brother just picked up a quad cab Silverado yesterday. It's pretty sick.
 
honest to goodness, i love men with big trucks. for some reason i find it bumps the attractiveness level up

thankfully my town is full of 'em so.. yay me

I saw a sticker on a Ford Super Duty a few weeks ago that read "chugs gas hauls ass" had a good chuckle
 
As long as you can tell the difference between a mall-crawler and a real truck! Pretty sure most guys wouldn't put that sticker on the former.

In my experience most girls like trucks until you turn them into real trucks. For example I had a sweet lifted truck with nice tires and locking everything and girls wouldn't go near it. now I have a pretty much stock pickup but it's shiny and black and the girls love it!

maybe I'm just jealous of the guys who can spend 70 grand on a truck that will never even see a two-track road.
 
so much of this. i see so many dudes driving around in expensive, nice trucks that wouldn't ever think about taking them muddin'.

i drive a beat to absolute shit 1997 silverado 2500. it just got the name terry because after i rolled it a few months back, i found a gray door for it at a nearby junkyard that has a sticker above the handle that says "terry" on it.
 
haha i'm pretty sure 98% of the men in my town legitimately use their trucks for some kind of work.

we have a lot of horse farms and mulch businesses around here.

what's a "mall-crawler"? the image that's popping into my head is a person crawling around on their stomach in the mall....
 
there's SOOOOOOOOO much of this in california.. all these guys with huge shiny trucks with 20G lifts on them and not even a trailer hitch.

then you see the small tacoma's chopped to shit, but always dirty and muddy and actually used.
 
My truck doesn't have a hitch anymore. Would rather keep a bigger spare under there.

1/2 tons suck to tow with anyways.
