alright, so like i said, i read through the threads i found using the search bar but couldnt find what i was looking for.

so i keep having trouble with 360s. ive landed a couple but i cant remember what i did differantly from the other failed attempts.

now, i have two questions. first of all- after watching a lot of videos, rather than seeing people "pop" i just see them bring their knees up towards their chest at the lip of the jump. is that right? if i get enough speed will this work?

also, if i do "pop" should i be using my toes more than any other part of my boot? so like essentially jump of the lip with my toes?

i seem to be flailing/getting thrown off balance
any help would be greatly appreciated.

short and sweet: weight foward, arms in front, pop off your toes, compact in the air, turn your head, spot the landing, stomp the shit out of the jump.

i pop with my feet flat. if i pop on my toes i normally go into a bio rotation and flail out and eat shit.

You want to pop with your toes, because a jump sets you backseat popping on your toes makes up for that and makes you land perfectly, popping off your whole foot will make you land backseat and of course popping of your heels is going to make you land on your ass.

I would say that you should "pop" or jump with your weight centered on your skis. Make your jump/tuck/spin all one fluid motion as you jump pull your knees up while looking and turning with your hips and shoulders. It should be one fluid motion rather than a pop then a spin or a spinny hucky thing in the beginning if you want it to look smooth.

my spinning was off this season...some days were bad for me some were good. like people have been saying dont think too much about it just do it!

That's what I do kinda....Sometimes I just spin with no set amount I wanna stick......just make sure you spot your landing...

Be in an athletic, balanced stance. Pop off the balls of your feet.

Also, when you're learning new rotations, it helps to be aware of where you're looking as you spin. Some people say to look at the horizon, but I find that I stay on axis best looking slightly down from the horizon.

You probably need to pop more, and look at your landing spot.

You can practice popping by jumping 360s off your feet.

I first learned to do 360s really well after learning 270s onto rails because with 270 on you are forced to keep your eyes on the landing spot at all times. Once you figure out how to spot your landing properly, 3s are a piece of cake.

spin your body as you go off the jump. if its the right sized jump you can disregard all of you set up/pop off toes bussiness

Best advice that can be given, just keep doing them and you will learn. Took me 3 seasons of throwing them off every jump I hit to finally get them down. I honestly would compare them to learning to ollie on a skateboard, it takes a while to get it flawless, but once you do, every trick after that is just easier.

You will float right into 540's once you understand the 3, and from there you will be able to learn cork and 7's no issue.

Just keep at it, and all the advice here has been good for sure.

indeed..... I used to have a lot of trouble with them, then I just started popping more and they got a lot more smooth. then the season ended :(

tries keeping your skis pretty wide apart in the air. (unless your grabbing) but it makes it way easier to learn.

just put the scaredness part out of your head. if thats a factor...thats usually the only thiing that screws me up. and go a little faster. speed can be your friend.

confidence my friend. good luck!!! :)

I too was having trouble doing 3s consistently but as a few people said earlier in this thread, you're over analyzing it, just like I was. When you spend time thinking about what you're about to do, you're more likely to mess up. That just seems to be the way it works.

Anyways, a few things you might want to look out for that were causing me troubles, make sure you are IN the air before you start spinning. I always thought that people began their upper body rotation on the lip but when you try this your skis tend to catch and you'll get thrown waaayyy off balance. The main trick to landing 3s is looking over your shoulder, find your landing and stare at it, concentrate on it and your body will naturally follow and level itself out. If you aren't looking at the landing you aren't going to land the trick.

Just keep on throwing them, eventually they get extremely easy and will become a great safety trick to have in your quiver.

Just spin, there not hard at all, its just a 3, its not a double cork, just throw your shoulders and hips in like a normal spin and go
