Tripod Hole?

Ok, so for some reason or another I was peering into the hole where the tripod screws into the camera, and realized that there was no bottom to it, and I could see right into the camera. Is this bad? Should I get it looked at? It won't be a problem with my tripod, because the boot will stop the screw, but my camera handle screws into there with a long bolt, and I'm not sure if it will go through too far and ruin the camera...help? Thanks

 
panasonic gs500. we (my dad and i) made a homemade handle for it, and the bolt screwed into the hole...it might've been from that. I'll try and post pics sometime.

btw, sorry for the way thread looks, thats kinda wierd...
 
well yeah, me too, but i don't know what to do about it...I'm probably going to have it looked at, because that little piece it floating around inside
 
yeah. that'd be a good idea. for now put some tape over the hole or something maybe so that stuff doesn't get in there.
 
i would get someone to take the little thing floating around out just so it wont jam anything important. If you dont get the thing replaced i would at least buy a short screw to keep anything from getting up there when it isnt on a tripod or something
 
Alright, bad news...last night when I was playing with my camera (there's tape over that tripod hole), I was watching footy of me in the backyard. I realized that I couldn't use the zoom function to change the volume. I thought nothing of it, but wanted to make sure I could use it as zoom, so I switched to the recording mode. The screen was lit, but stayed black, and I couldn't do anything, almost as if it had gotten halfway there, but didn't make it. The cap was off everything. Now I was like "Oh shit" so I tried to turn it off, but the toggle switch to turn it on/off wasn't working either. I had to pull the battery out, and I did. Now when I turn it on, I get a picture, but it's hazy and green, and I can't use the manual settings/zoom, and after about one minute, the screen goes blue and tells me to press the Reset button.

I'm so fucking pissed, I leave for Snowbird on Saturday, and I don't think that there is any way that a shop will look at it by then.

shit, that sounds ghey, just phone the shop and ask if you can go in tonight, or the tomorrow for them to take a look. If not you might be fucked..
 
have it as neautral as possible drain the battery fully...take out whatever recording devices you may have ...fully charge the batter and pop it back in. This is the solution some of problems like that usually
