He is letting you say what you want, but he doesn't have to agree. It's much better than saying if you don't agree, get out of the country, as the comments you gave 10s to did.
 
And constant hatred towards our country, which is almost all I find in this forum, does cause problems. I believe there is a huge difference between "finding fault" in our country and being anti-American, and alot of the expressions are purely anti-American.
 
how is idolizing athletes and being interested in their lives different than idolizing a movie star or a singer and being interested in their lives? You think its stupid people are interested in what Britney Spears and Kevin Federline do but I bet there are poeple that think its stupid to be interested in what Seth does.
 
I don't ever remember personally saying "if you don't agree get out of the country"....but I could be wrong.
 
That was overall pretty good, except the ending, which is the thing I absolutely despise many republicans for (not saying I despise all of them, just people with that mentality). You said "maybe you should consider supporting America as a whole, and if you don't want that then maybe you shouldn't be here." It's my understanding that people with a problem with Bush, the government, etc. DO support America, probably more than many supporters of the government. After all, blind faith is one of the most dangerous things there is. People who dissent usually love this country and do not like the direction it is going. Trying to change the government when it does wrong is very patriotic, because patriotism adheres to the country itself and not necessarily its leaders. The "hippies", I believe, are more noble than the government. Maybe their ideas are misguided, but they (by that i mean most) stand for ideals which are much more respectable than the government's (again not all, but most of it). You can't say "fighting the President for these things is not the correct battle to fight" because, first, it always depends on the issue, and second, the President is the guy in charge of it all, the decider if you will.

word, the US is too pro guns like some kid said his friend who was around 16 shot him self with a gun he puchesed legally, or those colombine kids they legally puchesed gernades and machine guns. like i think banning hand guns in canada is bullshit but i think its good ppl my age cant buy machine guns
 
Hmm. I agree with you on the idea that attempting to change government is by far the most patriotic thing to do in this country because it gets you much more involved in the entire decision making process and truly helps the rest of the world to see us as something other then lazy slobs. However, there are right and wrong ways in attempting to change the government. The Constitution is littered with clauses on how this process should be completed and how to change your role in society, after all this is a government run by the people and that's fantastic. My problem, and I'm not going to lie it may be slightly bias because of where I am (UVM campus), is that I run across many liberals who are so quick to whine and complain, force their views onto you, and then try and change the government through ways that seem to make little sense to me.

There's lots more to say, but I really need to make my way to the library and prepare myself for a chem exam while writing a 10 page paper in between the two other 8 page papers I have. I'll enjoy it, keep discussion lively.
 
who cares about celebs anyways, lets talk about our backwards forign polocy or our huge defisite. do american teens realize that its gonna take our entire lives to pay off american debt from this unnessisary war in iraq?
 
ur not anti american if u disagree with the pres policies. i disagree with his policies b/c i believe that what he is doing is not good for america. also if we jut gave into every thing the pres said that would be anti american its in our constitution to question authority and always be aware of your leaders doings.

When we stop questioning and holding our government accountable we don't deserve to benefit from the good it can and could do.
 
"i love the place i live, but i hate the people in charge" ... does that count as anti american or no?
