Triple 1800 and Screamin Semen Double

that was nuts. everyone hating should really wait until they have seen more of him skiing. honestly hes trying to get accepted to one of the largest big air events in freestyle skiing, he needs to show that he has what it takes to make the crowd go wild and push the boundaries of the sport.

I think you're missing the point. What people are trying to say is, that if you wanna get into a comp like JOI, you gotta have a legit rightside game. Why are you so butthurt over this, are you Schenk himself?

its a big air competition. how many people do right tricks for there big air runs? its supposed to be your most banger trick. not your unnatural trick.

Haha, no, I'm not Mr. Schenk. And I don't think I'm missing the point. I just don't think that rightside spins are so important for JOSS. I guess I could say he came out of nowhere with a Triple 1800, a Screamin Semen Dub, he's 19 years old and people complain about his unnatural spins.

Thats not the fucking point, the point is this kid is just hucking himself. No kid should be doing dubs until he can right 9 and sw right 9 i dont care what you think. this kid is just a chucker anyways.

You do realize that this is an entry for JOI, right? A big air comp? You know, where the only person spinning the opposite way is Russ Henshaw? Jesus fuck.

And thats why its fucked and maybe the kid can do a right 9 but still, i just think this video epitomizes how fucking stupid contest skiing is becoming.

No, this thread epitomizes how fucking stupid skiing is becoming. I'm not a fan of triples and I also think you should do more variations of a trick but it's freeskiing and you can do what you want. Nobody should tell other people what they have to do, that is just the contradiction of this sport, goddamn

seriously? Fuck that shit man. You should work for FIS if you're going to have that kind of mentality.

There was a time when I tried to learn how to spin stuff right but it felt awkward and I felt like I was just going to hurt myself so I stopped. I've been playing with the idea of learning a double or two at some point (who knows if I ever actually get around to it - but that's besides the point).

How on earth can you actually say that someone shouldn't learn a double variation unless than can spin all 4 9's? Do you realize how moronic that sounds? He's obviously doing something right if he can throw multiple double variations and at least one triple variation with grabs, so who the fuck are you to say he's wrong because he didn't learn this or that before hand?

I'm done with this thread, you guys are scaring me and I'm starting to think you have no idea what the true meaning of "freestyle" skiing is. Go back to the '90's if you want rules and regulations about what tricks you are and aren't allowed to throw.

Being able to spin all 4 ways is the best skill a skier can have, period. Like someone said above you, a sw right 9 is harder than a dub 10. I just think its sad his video doesn't showcase any right spinning and I used the right 9 as an example because its usually the stock "trick" for contest skiers. Thats funny you think I should work for FIS just because I believe one should be able to spin all 4 ways before doing dubs, I think that mindset is the complete opposite of what you think it is, but whatever. I only said it because I think new skiers are getting way to caught up in how much they can spin vs how much technicality they could put into a run. If you dont see the same way thats fine, I just think being able to spin all 4 ways equally i pretty rare in skiing while over in snowboarding every pro snowboarder can do all 4 9s.

I establish the man up rule.

"Thou shall noteth talk shiteth unless he/she posts a video goingeth way fuckin better."

That rule would've prevented a good portion of you posting.

Thats like saying you can't tell someone their hair looks bad because you're not a hair stylist. We all know what good tricks look like and we all know what good tricks are, we have every right to critique someone skiing even if we can't do the same tricks, your logic is flawed.

tobey2.jpg

Flawed logic due to the hash bong but that's ok. I think talking shit and critiquing are two different things. Anyone got a dictionary?

freeskiing is all about "free" as in doing whatever the fuck you want and think is cool. Not conforming to what people think that you should "learn first"

not only that but for all you know he could have right side tricks and they just weren't in his edits because he doesn't like them or doesnt think that they look good.

Anyone who is throwing triples i think would have good enough in air awareness and balance to throw right side tricks. All of you complaining should shut up

well

for example Dale T. Doesn't spin that much rightside...

Then why don't you guys go hate one him? Posting a video on this forum without getting hate is impossible now..

+ I like his style. He does what he loves to do, and if you guys don't have any nice words to say, just don't waste your time hating on him..

And

One of the rules in these entries are:

"SHOW ALL OF YOUR BIGGEST TRICKS."

Peace

Haters, come at me

Ok, I lied 'cause here I am.

"Being able to spin all 4 ways is the best skill a skier can have, period" Ok, that's great. I agree with you there, but I don't see how that has anything to do with what this discussion is about. Good stuff though.

FIS mentality isn't about hucking big, ugly tricks - it's actually quite the opposite. They're about regulating the sport and telling athletes what they are and aren't allowed to do, with a strict linear way of progression towards bigger tricks. Saying that someone has to know all 4 9's before learning a double variation is something FIS would say/do. Got it?

"in snowboarding every pro snowboarder can do all 4 9's" Good stuff. It's a good thing the guy in the edit that started this whole discussion isn't pro, so I don't see what the point of this is. If he tried to enter a pro level open slopestyle contest he probably wouldn't make finals because he's not as good as the pros. Is that a bad thing? Not in the slightest. Nick Goepper probably has the most tech slopestyle run ever with 4 different double variations, all spun different ways. Seeing how he is pretty much on top of the slopestyle game right now, I'd say professional skiing is doing very well and I don't really see the issue you are trying to bring up.

This kid is an amateur skier who put out an edit of his biggest tricks in hopes of making it to an invite only big air contest. Those tricks happen to be very big, very impressive, and as far as I'm concerned he came out of nowhere while at it. That doesn't happen too often, and when it does, if you can't admit that it's impressive, well you're extremely jaded and should maybe stop recreating internet forums about skiing.

Well you're wrong, dale does right 7/9 all the time and does sw right 7/9/10 almost as often. This coudlve been a good argument if you weren't flat out wrong.

haha

that was pretty nuts, if he could clean up every landing that would be cool.

sort of agree with evan, you should learn most rotations before skipping steps in progression.

but fuck it, I don't give a fuck

Hahaha jesus what do you guys have against a little criticism? Consider the context of this video for a moment; this isn't some random dude with no sponsors putting together an edit to show his friends on facebook, it's a fucking JOI SUBMISSION VIDEO.

You better believe you're going to get ripped apart in the Ski Gabber for trying to score a spot in what is historically the most progressive big air contest in our sports history with wack style, sketch(at best) landings, and no right side tricks.

I don't have a problem with kids squeezing in as many spins and flips between the takeoff and landing, but I am noticing it's becoming increasingly popular to huck with no regards for style of variation for the intended purpose of going to big contests and getting sponsored. Prepare to see a lot more life changing injuries in the next few years.

Our sport really doesn't need this.

you totally right anyone who does a dub screamin semen has wack style. And his tripple looked just as good as any of the ones that any of the pros have thrown minus the landing which I bet he could clean up if he tried it again. I dont understand how all you guys think he has bad style, it is fine

so much this.

i kinda agree with eheath though. Learning tricks in multiple directions will definitely help you as you progress especially if you want to compete at any semi high level, i've tried to do this just because I'm more impressed by people who can do tricks both ways. But who the fuck are me, you, anyone to tell some kid what tricks he's allowed to throw on any given day.

I know that if I was stoked on a jump and felt like trying a certain trick on a nice day, I certainly wouldn't not try it just because I hadn't learned a right 9 or whatever yet.

There's only a few people in the world that can make a screaming seamen look anything but whack so that's not what people are talking about.

I love how there's so many kids that get insulted because they don't like someone else's style.

We've gotta be yes-men and agree with everyone! Everyone is sick, everyone has great style and we all like the same stuff! World peace dogggg! Peace and love, peace and love.

to add to this, I think in big air comps you shouldn't be allowed to do the same trick twice. Like in the x-games but you have to be stomping all different tricks (i think joi did this one year too?). I dunno how it would work out but it could make for some cool tricks get thrown instead of your standard ones and would really show who is the most consistent with the deepest bag of tricks.

STRONG username to post content ratio...

but i agree. This is the biggest big air contest of the year and to send some 19 year old thats an extra 360 away from an injury is stupid. Props to the kid for the shit he threw down and he is young and can improve but he is not ready for JOI. NS going crazy because he threw his hands all over the place? If that was Goepper or Dumont landing like that half of NS would be getting butthurt because they dont like them..

This made me lol a lot... and then I looked over and noticed again that your status is now basement dweller. The combo just about made me cough up a lung.

I think my bother can always porgressing in holding his grabs. It is a short edit, and he do everything in 2 days. Hard work! So big up for my bro and bring him to the JOI, he can show you more from his crazynesss... BOOOOOOOM

You are way out of the skiing loop dude. First you call ABM so no-name skier from Quebec, and then act like that was the first screamin semen dub.

King of Newschoolers? I think not. I honestly don't even think you are the same skierman.

i was gonna come here and say something about he hucked himself, or cant spin right. then i realized i cant and could never do anything remotely that awesome on skis.

That's where he's at. Personally I've learned the spin/rotation before really getting various grabs dialed in that specific trick (although seems like the double 10 or 12 is learned with a mute grab instead of no grab--not too different from how aerialists learn to position their bodies to ensure getting to their feet...). I'm not too stoked where the direction of skiing is going but good for him for figuring it out and getting to ski for free along the way.

Im amazed at how people are hating on this guy. So what if he doesnt have the best style? Its an entry vid for a big air contest, and its really not that important to spin both ways at a big air contest anyway.

Those are some of the most tech ski tricks of all time, from a guy who is virtually unknown. Hucked style? Ya, obviously. Anyone who throws down that hard and is under 20 years old is gonna have a hard time looking smooth.

OMG I'm blowing it harder than Lindsay Lohan! First I didn't know some kid's abbreviated name and then I call a screamin seamen dub the best trick done on skis, shit man, I'm really outta it!

But hey at least the king of reading comprehension responded to my post! Life is good.

Dylan- Completely agree. That's the part I think kids on here don't realize when we criticize someone's skiing... we all wish the best for anyone who can make a living skiing, unless it's a 15 year old China gymnast. They can fuck off back to commie land.

Why are u guys downvoting and hating everything. The tittle says EXACTLY whats on the video. It was amazing regardless of the flaws. He's working on it. NONE of you can do a triple, yet have better vote ratio on your 1-2 flip videos if u have any. Butthurt newschoolers ruin this community.
