I agree with you, but it's useless trying to have any kind of relatively intelligent disscussion, especially on this.
 
There's no possible way that the reason these "trends" catch on is because people actually like them and they actually look good.

Except when one trend completely contradicts the trend that was before it.
I think you are forgetting the fact that people do things because they are trends... rather then doing them because they look good thereby creating a trend.
 
like to ski in baggy clothes and I like to ski in tight jeans too, does that make me trendy????

most of us are controlled by the medias around us and end up following what they told us or doing the exact opposite just to prove we are not conformist.

Being ourselves should be what we care about even if that means listening to played out music and liking that new played out suit.
