TREND-WATCH 21//22

wearing Dickies or Wrangler cargos or straight pants as snow pants I feel like is something I've been seeing on the gram here and there. I feel like this one could be something because it's so accessable, it's edgy like track pants, and durable. only downside is I can see this coming and going faster than your mother last weekend

agree w this. another downside tho is they’re not at all waterproof or at least water resistant and quick drying like polyester track pants are so it’s gonna be a wet/cold time if you get snow on them.

What I mean is skiing street with little to no spinning/traditional tricks

I was half joking but my state just legalized weed and now I don’t wanna smoke it anymore. Fuck you Ned Lamont you can’t tell me what to do idk anything about this vegan straight edge you’re talking about but I fucking hate Arby’s

On the positive note our state now requires public consumption zones so parks r gonna have pot pavilions and stoned sanctuaries in all locations with a population above 50 k

all g some rando did downvote me

yeah that makes sense, i actually love that sort of park. so sick of the emphasis on comp jock spin to win shit. would much rather see an interesting spot with a stylish but simple trick. keen to see what content people produce.

house and punk music, more people in the streets hopefully, jetskis again, arsenic is gonna blow up to the fucking moon, more kooked out trendy ig edits with songs stolen from zootspace, more people overpaying for vx1000s, arcteryx, on3p going out of business, and last but not least skiing will (likely) become more simplistic and style/spot based

Definitely agree with all of this except I think ON3P will keep getting more popular but have a big shift in its customer base

I don't think you are remotely aware of their customer base beyond the perception of NS and the bump you ski at.

on3p definitely aint going out of business but their reputation in our corner of skiing sure seems to get more shot every season. old team sure emptied out over the last few years.

That's because your dumb enough to base a ski companies "reputation" based upon who they sponsor. Look at all the people who absolutely sucked Revision dick and got excited over their Chinese skis that they never received all based on who they gave free skis to.

Sorry to break up the ON3P debate

But getting back to the trendwatch... Wearing long sleeve T's under T shirts is clearly getting super popular (I actually like this look a lot). Also snowboarders seem to be going back to baggy this year so we can expect that to pick up again in like 2023.

Small ski company sponsors relatively unknown skier, skier blows up, gets offered a big contract from big company, small ski company cannot afford to match contract because it is small, skier signs with big company. Its not like ON3P is slaughtering off their team like Salomon or Orage, they just can't afford to match the big companies because how small they are. They sell maybe a 10th of the skis K2 sells.

This this this

I can't blame a rider for wanting to get paid, but I bet guys like Sander and Karl look back fondly at ON3P.

fuck off, can judge a company’s rep however the hell i want to. i respect companies that look out for their team and support their riders’ goals. i’m not judging by the team itself, i’m judging by how well that company supports their team. and if you’ve got a fucking massive team turnover in just a few years like on3p, something aint right with support.

Ok sure I ski at a small hill but its seems to me like ON3P is actively trying to change their own customers. Doesn't mean they're shitty skis it's just different people riding them

Yeah I don't ever get why people get mad about riders leaving small companies. Same thing is gunna happen to VIshnu when some of those guys blow up.

No dude, they just had massively good riders who wanted to get paid. Look at who was on their team before and see how many of them are now A-Listers for the big boy companies.

i’m not speaking for anybody but you sure seem to be betting on someone you don’t know’s opinion.

I suppose you're right, I shouldn't do that, but you figure that if things had been bad, there would be a bit more of a negative rep out of ON3P right? I mean there was some stuff between Sander and Jskis, that kind of got out a bit, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see where people are right now and realize that companies like K2 and Dynastar can pay a lot more vs ON3P.

it’s just way more complex than just getting paid more. it’s a relationship. some skiers prefer working with smaller companies because it allows them other freedoms and opportunities and control over their skis and content that come at the exchange of a larger budget. and a LOT of the og on3p team were on that program - to have pro model skis, be able to work on team videos. i’m just saying all of that collapsed pretty abruptly, and while i’m sure there are circumstances of some of those skiers moving on amicably to better opportunities, you can’t just say half of the team turns over and there’s no reason for it besides more money elsewhere.

Yeah, you're right, and I'll defer to you on industry knowledge any day of the week. Looking forward to seeing all the stuff you're working on these days man! If you're ever filming or riding at the bird, let me know!

i’m running my mouth and talking shit. i’m not right about anything just adding to the discussion. i’m jaded and biased and definitely don’t always see the big picture.

thanks for the support on my own shit though!

What makes you think this? Simply because more people are discovering a brand that makes good skis?

I don’t think I’ve been following any “trends” for a couple years all I’m saying is I’ve seen this shit around from other people, it’s nothing new.

I don’t think tossing a wickedly disgusting lipb2 is “trendy” either haha. I tend to just do whatever the hell I want instead of following all these drones around buying jetskis and soldier pants posting shitty clips and getting their dick hard by making a shitty Instagram edit every week

Dude you’re not fooling anyone- it’s the only trick in the world after all.

but chill out, I gaslighted you once and you’re blowing your lid over nothing. Gaslighting isn’t even real dawg, plus pretty sure I was complimenting you by saying you’re the trendiest skier in this thread?

Let’s see a lip b2 as nasty as his from you.

you seem all offended that someone didn’t think the same as you. You care way too much about what someone comments. If you wanna cry so much why even post.

also can you lip 2p2?

I think they’ve been marketing themselves more to all mountain skiers and that’s why more people are discovering them

Absolutely nothing wrong with that it’s just what they’re doing

Do you have some tea to spill? Not trying to stir shit up just generally curious why you think this way as you seem to be implying there is a different reason dudes are leaving the team outside of getting bigger contracts with other companies. I do think Vishnu has overtaken them as the Newschoolers crowd favorite but they just gave Hackel and Mango pro-topsheets, and still seem to be pretty active within this community?

Im getting some "Die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain" type vibes

I’ve been thinking that baggy everything is gonna come back instead of baggy pants and small jacket

I’m a full supporter of this, it’s gonna be a repeat of 2007-11 with the half gangster half hesh clothing style divide imo

Neckie tubes with a drawstring to become beanies have been on the rise the last two seasons started with boarders and this season became more popular with skiers.

Well they are a great close air support option. Never been downed by an enemy. Can circle a target for like 12 hours. We always had Apache air weapons cover never ac130s though. I did get to leave FOB Shank in a C130 doing a combat takeoff and that shit was gnar.
