Trend on NS i've noticed.

so NS, i've been here a while. not forever, but ever since i got into highschool. i graduated this year, and i've seen some significant changes to this site that i really feel like pointing out so all the noobs can get a feel for what this site used to feel like without feeling left out of the community.

Most of what i'm going to say refers to NSG. When i first joined, i didn't know what internet was. There was no internet memes (Is that the word for what i think i'm referring to). There were no LOLcats, no wut pear's, no stupid 4chan bullshit that just seemed to have turned the NS forums into just any other forum on the internet. I guess that's what i'm really trying to say. When i joined the only forum i knew existed was this one. When i used to post a lot, around the 10th grade, there was nothing like the "obvious troll-ing" i see going on.

i guess that's what i really want to stress, it seems as i get older, this forum is just an extension of 4chan. When i joined, it wasn't, people got ripped on for saying first and making the chad gaps joke, not for trolling, pee in her butt, or posting an internet picture that isn't NS originated. on one hand i really don't care, this site was obviously going to shift over time, but on the other hand i want to give the following message to all existing and new members that pretend this is 4chan v2:

Save that shit for those shitty websites where kids relentlessly beat off to asian porn reside. This is NS, keep it classy mother fucker.
 
i didnt even know forums existed til i found ns and i still dont think forums exist. NS is a community, NON BELIEVER!
 
as much as i appreciated your nastalgic journey, its just something that is going to happen. The worst for me is all the apperent "inside" jokes on ns, those are overused by kids wanting to seem like they belong or something.

Take all the meme pictures with a grain of salt. some are pretty funny, others stupid. people are still going to post them.

you are awesome dude and i applaud you, although sometimes the things you stated can get fun, we do not want to turn ns into some 4chan shithole.

No, no, no. You have me all wrong. You know how those kids sometime make rant threads that are about two or three sentences long and there in all CAPS with a bunch of exclamation marks.
 
Although I've only been on since 06, I've noticed this too. Whats with people posting pictures of each other and acting like they are best friends when they've never met?
 
THANK YOUive been postin for a couple of years now but lurkin like none other for many years before, and i have dramtically seen the change in NSG and even sometimes SG in recent months.it seemed as though it was getting a little out of hand a year or two ago but now this summer its in full swing and it really pisses me off.this isnt 4chan, and a few funny memes and troll thread here and there, you can get a kick out of, but it is just too much now.i say for every retarded nonsensical thread there is the OP should be bannedand if they do it again IP ban
 
I haven't even been on for long and i have seen how pointless many of the threads in NSG are. And enough with all the First drop and jibberish and saga threads in gear talk. When u to there, I want to hear about skis and tech, not a bunch of of rich kids (though that doesn't apply to all, so no hate here) asking if their xl saga is steezy enough when they're 5'5. Just my two cents so no hate
 
It was bound to happen eventually, with the increase in young skiers and the sensible older members moving on cause its getting so bad.

But yeah, I do agree. I have found myself posting very little in NSG (and other forums, actually) much these days because once the firsters/trolls/lolcatters have done their deed there is really nothing intelligible to reply to.
 
if you ask me, its a sure sign that things have reached a new low here if we're all agreeing with emopoppins about how the site can change.
 
completely true. you see something worthwhile in a title or an op and by the time you scroll to the bottom there's nothing left to work with.

i've only been a member since 2008, but the slide over that time has been pretty apparent. a few guys i ski with at college have noticed the same thing. i (kind of) wish i was that bitchy little middle schooler who joins before his balls drop, just so i could have seen more of the community.

Everybody needs to quit fucking whining. This is like the 19th thread on this. This forum is NOWHERE near 4chan. Go spend time on 4chan, The Misc., etc. Those forums maybe have 150 stupid threads for 1 good one. Memes are used in every thread.

Newschoolers is incredibly tame compared to other forums. All this forum has become is kids trolling and more kids whining about it. Ignore them.

I still have no fucking idea what 4chan is. I tried to figure it out multiple times by going there, but ads for anime porn and just overall gay shit scared me away and I still don't know. I do agree that NS is becoming something not like it was when I first joined / lurked.

newschoolers is the only online forum I go on consistently. NSG keeps me updated with whats new and funny on the internet and in the world. If newschoolers wasn't around, Id be doing summer homework instead of productive things like analyzing ski community websites. and even though I don't post alot, I still read a bunch of forums and know that most people on here mean well. NS FTW, now back to this essay
 
as someone who used to go on 4chan let me say that ns is nothing like 4chan... all internet forums use image macros but that doesnt mean that theyre an extension of 4chan.
