Trend Following Kinda Annoying

Shut the fuck up. You run one of the most exploitive marketing and retail companies posing as a small ski company. Remember when you almost bullied RMU out of business. Pepperidge Farms remembers.

What happened with RMU? I don't remember hearing about that

But how was anything I was saying a diss?

Dude COME ON you rip on jetskis all the fucking time on here, don't play dumb

fwiw I think it's hilarious and think you should keep doing it

it's bad manners to speculate about other people's finances, sir.

Also, do you work for ON3P? Like receive a check from them? Because they way you constantly diss almost every other brand while vocally supporting ON3P doesn't really put them in the best light if you are affiliated with them. And whether you work for them or not, the way you talk on here makes you (and the brand, by extension) seem bitter, threatened, and out of touch.

Consider this a performance review.

Don’t get me wrong I love how guys like Emmett and the zoot space guys are getting all this support and funds from this and I have nothing wrong with it.

but, on the jskis giveaway I see so many people asking for jets or Vishnus and it got me to thinking. Why does everyone want whats trendy, it’d be a lot better if people just got what they wanted instead of what everyone else wanted.

probably a pointless thread but that’s my 2 cents

We all have our reasons for why we love skiing, and for a lot of people it's that it makes them feel self-assured and cool.

They're buying something that gives them confidence.

Well that, and I like trendy stuff!

People can dick ride what they want, trend whore what they want, ski what they want idrc. I just wanna see more people skiing park tbh. If someone skiing Vs or Jets gets them into it so they buy those skis who am I to blame if that’s their influence. I mean shit I did that. First got into skiing about 4 seasons ago and quickly found the park after learning to ski. Had old ass K2 Assassin’s as my twin tip rental skies. Saw some older people in the park with K2s also, who were much better than me. Went home looked it up and saw the K2 Laax Vacation video of Luka Schicklen doing some dirty cork 7s and nose taps on Marksman. I ended up buying two pairs. But it got me hooked on park skiing.

idk I’d rather have more kids skiing park than less. Still nice to see something opposite the norm or “trendy”. Stuff like that is sometimes needed

This is a good post dude. Whatever gets you in to skiing in general, especially park! I remember watching Clayton Vila and Cam Riley in the old Stept/PBP movies and that’s what motivated to start skiing hard and doing stuff out of my comfort zone. Nowadays, people’s influences are skiers like Siver Voll, Bella Bacon, AHall and Taylah Lundquist. People buy ON3P, Faction and Line as a result. Same with guys on Vishnu, Jet Skis, etc… I think it’s cool to see how different people come in to the sport. It’s only trend following because we’ve been around longer than some of these kids. I grew up watching guys on narrower, stiffer, less rockered skis, so the new wave, wider, softer, more rockered stuff seems like a trend but it’s just the natural evolution of the sport and it’s equipment.

I think a lot of this mentality has to do with envy/jealousy. Like my buddy was talking shit about a guy riding on3ps with good carving technique. Like ya maybe you’re shitting on him cuz your broke ass is riding on a pair of armada ar7’s from 6 years ago with a quarter of the top sheet floating off the ski…

Imagine being mad because someone ski's well.

What happened with the JLev RMU thing? Man I have heard so much negative stuff about RMU on TGR and elsewhere. Don’t know what to think. Skis I have from them are solid but then again, old and made by Neversummer.

Real talk though I love all these Indy brands not being afraid to do their own thing. I can remember being a kid and there was like 10 twin tips available on the market. This shit nowadays is so much cooler.

Does not wanting on3ps because they’re way too fucking expensive make me broke?

jkjk they they prolly the most durable skis out there. For park riding I just don’t see the point of spending 700 dollars on some absolute bricks that you’ll have binding hole stripouts out to the moon and edges that crack just as easy as any other ski. At least they make their bases fucking bulletproof.

on3p are not bulletproof and you should know that skiing tow ropes

Their edges aren’t. But I don’t put edges in ski durability conversations anymore literally all edges are the same IMO they all crack just as easy as the next

J strong armed Utopie (the company who actually builds, and I wouldn’t be surprised designs The skis J Skis sells) to cancel RMUs contract right before the fall to focus on J skis/4FRNT production. Basically left RMU high and dry right when they were supposed to be delivering to retailers and customers. This is several years ago when RMU was still pretending to be a ski company and not whatever they are now.

Utopie also used to build the Line/Karhu branded skis pre K2 bailout.

would it be gatekeeping if you refused to tell a 12 year old the jetskis website ?

Nah that's just normal, because it's an enormous project to find it to give it.

I tried to search for the website, got 10 pages of watercraft pitches.

Later someone said they aren't real, i figured that must be it.

Today I tried again, tried "jet skis snow" on page 8 of the search results a link to newschoolers with a link to the ski co.

Terrible name for a ski company unless they are going for exclusive.

I don't think the goal in mind is to grow into a large company

I just want Vishnu’s because my homie been shredding them for a while and they look fun??‍♂️ I see a lot of people complaining about the trendy stuff ruining the culture but whenever I’m skiing I only see people ripping on Vishnu’s and jet skis

You’ll love Vs, im not saying it’s bad people are getting them at all, some people may just buy them when in reality they’d be better off skiing something different

Yeah understandable

Trend following kinda got us up to this point in modern freeskiing if we're gonna be real about it for a second. Like don't any of you remember parklanes filled up with people in the late 2000s/early 2010s with tall-t's, skullcandy icon headphones, afterbang, and narrow park skis? Probably not.

I do. Trend following was way worse during the tall t era. Your two options were to be a gangster, or a hesh skier with tight pants and an ugly jacket.

There's a lot more variation in steeze these days

Pretty much yeah. God forbid you deviated from any of those categories or you earned the label gaper or worse, big mountain skier.
