Treaty of versailles?

anyone know why it was bad?

i have a manditory history debate tomorrow, and i don't know anything about it, so some help would be greatly appreciated.

the restrictions and demands on the treaty of versailles were too harsh. the main terms of the treaty of versailles were:

(1) the surrender of all German colonies as League of Nations mandates

(2) the return of Alsace-Lorraine to France

(3) cession of Eupen-Malmedy to Belgium, Memel to Lithuania, the Hultschin district to Czechoslovakia

(4) Poznania, parts of East Prussia and Upper Silesia to Poland

(5) Danzig to become a free city

(6) plebiscites to be held in northern Schleswig to settle the Danish-German frontier

(7) occupation and special status for the Saar under French control; (8) demilitarization and a fifteen-year occupation of the Rhineland

(9) German reparations of £6,600 million

(10) a ban on the union of Germany and Austria

(11) an acceptance of Germany's guilt in causing the war

(11) provision for the trial of the former Kaiser and other war leaders

(12) limitation of Germany's army to 100,000 men with no conscription, no tanks, no heavy artillery, no poison-gas supplies, no aircraft and no airships

(13) the limitation of the German Navy to vessels under 100,000 tons, with no submarines

Germany did not have the funding or the economy to pull this off, therefore leading to the rise of adolf hitler. he used his powerful speaking skills in order to manipulate the german citizens into believing that he had a way out of these harsh terms. after hitler has assumed power of germany, he led his propaganda on even further, to racism and anti-sematism, another one of the reasons for WWII. so when it comes down to it, if the Big 4 took a more sympathetic and logical approach to making the treaty of versailles, WWII likely would not have occured.

^ yeah hes got it...we just studied that.....another thing you should be aware of is war clause 231 which stated that germany had the sole responsibility of starting WWI....they were not happy about that

look at the economic results. german citizens who had been oppressed, and those that hadnt been were all paying literally wheelbarrows of money for a loaf of bread. there are pictures of the food lines with people pushing them, bring some in to the debate. the treaties terms undermined the german government's power within their own nation, and made them totally incapable of dealing with rampant inflation.

yeah he^^ got most of it, but the big thing is that the german people and soldiers were being told that germany was winning, and felt abandoned by their government when they decided to sign the treaty. the german government was told that the treaty was to be based on woodrow wilson's 14 points(look them up) and that there would be peace without victory. when the treaty was made germany was not involved and it turned out to be way too harsh on the germans. germany had no choice but to sign and accept the treaty, which the germans would be resentful of for years afterward.

so basically just look up some stuff in relation to that and what body massage said

too harsh on Germany, put them in a huge economic depression that set the stage for the Nazis to come into power and gave Germany a reason to be pissed off and start world war 2.

pretty much the end of world war one but in a way the cause of world war 2. Body massage explained it well
