i just believe snowboarding dominates our sport at this moment and time but not for long and i disagree i do not think snowboarding has a switch riding advantage we have just yet to master our switch pow riding capabilities

i think that on freestyle snowboarding have a huge advance in the park but it's just a question of time.

landing switch or doing anything switch is just so much harder for skier than it is for snowboarders. tanners switch 9 in chads was more impressive than rice's double cork

 
I agree there really shouldn't be a major comparison between skiing and snowboarding, but c'mon, don't you get a little satisfaction out of knowing that our sport is just as good, or even better than snowboarding in the public's eye. Nothing will even make me wanna stop skiing, I do it because I love skiing. But you know I do get a little pissed off when someone views me as a loser because I'm a skier. The Public hears the word ski and thinks "yeah he's a tool".

Whats really awesome about our sport is that we have all of these awesome skiiers that totally tear shit up... but the only thing keeping us from outside respect is a leader. Someone who throws down a little bit harder than everybody else.

Maybe some of you forgot to read my post the first time. Worshipping snowboarding and all it's betterness no longer makes you look like you know skiing and are that much more core of a skier. We get it. It may have worked five years ago.

Plus, who here keeps saying switch isn't harder on skis? Either you are forgetting what skis look like or you actually don't know how to ski switch.

this is a stupid argument. yes travis rice is very very good, what does that have to do with skiing? I mean if he one day put skis on and did all those tricks, then that would be something. As far as snowboarding being better than skiing, I'd say they are on an equal level all things considered. I haven't seen a snowboarder do an 810 to rail.

in my opinion you can't compare skiing to snowboarding by what tricks are being thrown...maybe in the past but skiing has caught up. skiing will excell in some areas and snowboarding will excell in some areas. what really matters is the atmosphere of the sport, and snowboarding is kicking skiings ass in that area. skiing needs to be more individual and ecclectic (look up the definition since most of you 15 year olds are lacking). snowboarding is winning because skiing looks like we're trying to follow snowboarding. we need to stop following all these trends and having so much attitude. just have fun, do your own thing and stop worrying so much about image.

skiing really is gay if i was good at snowboarding i would do it but im naturally better at skiing. Rice is sick and to everyone saying there are better skiers..........uh uh sorry but the proof is there in POP he is the undisputed champion of all snowsports. Also switch in a snowboard isnt the easiest thing in the world doing a 180 to butter 5 off a double stager shits on anything that has been ever done in skiing and that was last season imagine what rice will be doing in future proof. dont get me wrong i really like skiing and where its at and where its going its just that snowboarding is better. Also i believe that sage did a frontflip over chads to land on the flat i can remember watchingtaht somewhere

First of all, Chads is 120,130 feet at best. If Rice went 210, he overshot the landing by about 80-90 feet, Im betting thats not true, as he still can walk.

Second of all, No I have never seen a skier do 180's off a spine and then a cab 180 off another spine. However, I have yet to see a snowboarder do a backflip or rodeo off a cliff at 60+mph like Seth Does.

Last but not least, sure snowboarders have finally hit Chad's and killed it, but they hit it 5 years after Candide smoked it. The year after Sage and Tanner sessioned it. They did it the third time that skiers hit it, and skiers landed cab10's and switch rodeo 900s, not to bad at all...........

 
ya dude i have a dc poster of travis hitting chads and it has these little sub titles that says, First Attempt: Travis cleared the landing of chads buy 80 feet.

Regardless of how different landing switch is on skis or whatever, it is still possible to land switch in powder, so i really dont see why people arent throwing more shit to switch in powder. One man who does accomplish this very well is march andre belliveau or whatever, that cork 9 over that road gap, pretty fuckin sick. We all can land switch, its just we gotta sack up and huck it, thas the only way we will get to they style of riding travis does

 
Hey, its true, happen in 2004. Everyone standing in the peak chair line was blown away. Watching him throw the 180, looked like suicide, then he pointed them and did the cleanest cab540 out. Landed it and charged straight for the cornice below and to skiers right of AirJordans. He hucked a pretty sweet front flip of the cornice, turned left and dissapeared down towards Red Chair.

THe chair line was going crazy, but nobody knows who it was...

Why does everyone think that Rice did something good by overshooting a landing? I can point it, take way to much speed and overshoot anything, but I really dont want to. And as if you are trying to tell me that a skier cant boost higher and farthur than a snowboarder, thats just common knowledge. Skiers go bigger.

 
all it takes to get good at riding switch in pow is to actually do it. practice makes perfect

hahaha, comparing switch skiing to riding switch on a snowboard is the most retarded comparison i've ever heard. it's soo different. landing backwards on skis is harder because knees don't bend that way, so basically, the comparison is stupid.
