What do you guys think about him tearing down their jump at Chad's last season? I know this was old news but I just read the Snowboarding issue where they talked about tearing it down after they were done. They said like 'if someone wants to hit the jump, they should take the time to build their own jump' I guess some skiers were planning on hitting it the next day or something? I dunno, kind of a dick move to do though

do people usually leave the jump up?

anyway, its a dick move to tear it down. in the same article they were talking about how there were positve vibes between the skiiers and SBers, but then they turn around and tear down the jump and shit (literally) on the landing and takeoff?

they would have been lost on that gap without their help and hints from skiiers.

either way, they should have left it up because (1) thats the respectful, friendly way to be, keeping the environment friendly, and (2) if they were so sure they couldnt POSSIBLY be shown up, why didnt they leave the jump up, allowing skiiers to throw down?

if they want respect they need to show it

yeah romain de marche shat on the kick and travis shit in the landing, but they did kick the gaps ass. in snowboarder, shane charlebois said 'yes, romain shit on the jump, and travis shit in the landing...thats it. everything else is just a rumor.'

Other snowboarders who hit it salted the landing another time so it was basically unhittable for the rest of the season.

 
the snowboarders got the idea from tanner and the crew when they were filming for wski 106 in the winter when their was tons of pow, snowboarders hit it in the spring when it is easier and not as cool cause...no light fluffy. and too bad we hit it like 5 or 4 years ago. bwahahaha

what really is a dick move is all the lookers on who didn't offer to help build the jump thinking that they could just show up after Travis and crew left and reap the rewards of someone elses hard work. If you read the rest of the story...they were also concerned about someone killing them selves on that jump that shouldn't be there. They jumps have to be earned...they just dont appear out of thin air. Many full days of work go into prepping the inrun and kicker. Only those with right amount of skill and confidence take on the challange of building those gaps. If any of you little whinny forum bastards were capable of hitting that jump and put in roughly the 100hrs of labor to build it, then you to would tear it down so that lazy spectators couldn't hit it. All you little f#%%ing haters just want to jump on anything you can and start claiming shit that you dont know not a damn thing about.

ohh by the way...the whole story was photoshoped, all fake, none of it happened

 
i really want to see the double cork 1080 on pyramid. And whoever fucked up the landing had to have done it pretty much right after, because it was late season and they were claiming to be the first people to do it.

me and a buddy hit pyramid and it only took like 5 hours to build, but it coulda been better. i hate building for a whole day and not even skiing, way to much work...

they tore down the chads jumps because they were actually worried about other SNOWBOARD crews hitting it. you have to realize this was one of the most monumental snowboard sessions to go down last season, and they didnt want anyone poaching in on that. nevermind the 10 million hours of work they put into the inrun and kicker.

 
how unfotinate u did all that hard work to build it, they should go suck a dick. and im prity sure it takes a day to build everything for chads but taring it down is gay cause maybe one time u will hit it after skiers build it for you. its just not good at all for the relationship between skiers and rider or even riders and riders. ya and like some other peoople said there fucking pussies ur obviosly not confident that you are the best or do cool shit if your woried about other people showing you up. recantly it seems that the relationship between skiers and riders has not bben so good in my point of veiw. the other day at valle nevado a group of pros from neurope was building a step up me and my freind even offer our help building it and they said no we cant hit it because they wanted exculisve footage of it for there bullshit movie.

^ya thats wat im saying. leaving the jump up would have been a great way for them to keep it chill between boarders and skiiers.

as for the amount of work put in...the snowboarders, as i said before, would have had a lot more trouble hitting it if they hadnt had help and hints from skiiers, and seeing skiiers hit it to help them get ready for it. and them hitting chads wasnt really all that special, skiiers have been doing it for years.

i doubt their actions would have changed if it was snowboarders wanting to hit it instead of skiers...i doubt they tore it down as an action of pissing off skiers rather than anything else. at our mountain if you build a jump anywhere it's pretty much your fucking fault if someone fucks around on it, so them breaking down the jump isn't that big of a deal

Pros:

They were looking out for others, they wanted exclusive footage.

Cons:

They might as well leave it up for other people to hit, very selfish.

Either way - anyone who seriously wanted to hit it would have rebuilt anyway.

i read the article and i think it was totally cool for them to take it down 1. if you see the pics theres like 15 year old kids hangin out watchin them jump and if one of them tried it they would die and 2. i kno when i put alot of work ( they did like 3 days of building between the 2 jumps) and none of these other guys were helpin out i wouldnt be like ' ye its cool now u cn do it after i broke my ass no prob' i mean i think it was the ski crew who were kinda dicks comin out after they were done with pyramid and hitting it just so they wouldnt have to do any work..... just my opinion.........

 
1) they definitely did not break down the jump for the sake of safety. thats bullshit

2) when i build a jump, i am more than happy to let others hit it up.

and taking a shit on the jump is a cocky, stupid thing to do.

Personally I've got to agree with the riders on this one. I've put a day or two into building a big booter before and it would blow if some douche was just waiting around for us to leave so he could hit it. Those guys worked for 3 days to get that thing ready. If you don't do the work you should hit the jump period. If you put in you time like help pack out the tranny or build then go for it. And some skiers still hit it at some point in the season beacuse it's in WSKI and X. And why would salting the jump matter, it's in fucking Utah where it snowed about 600 inches last season. I think the shitty stuff would have gotten plenty covered up.

I doubt that doing what they did to the jump was directed in any way to skiers though, snbrders honestly don't hate on skiers anymore and its not that they didn't want those skiers they mentioned in the article hitting they didn't want any one hitting it period. besides when you kill a gap that much you are intitled to claim it as yours, travis and romaine were just marking their territory that they rightfully achieved.

you people dont get it. they took down the junp because the people hanging out watching WOULD NOT HELP BUILD IT and made it known they would come back later to hit it after they left. It had nothing to do with skiers vs snowboarders. The skiers that were hanging out didnt even want to hit it and were down with Travis and his crew. They even helped with sharing their experience as far as where to drop in with the right speed. Those skiers were totally cool. It was the other jackasses that moved in on pyramid while travis's crew stepped up to chad's...thats why they tore it down. Anyone who has put in that amount of work into a backcountry jump has every right to destroy their own jump. what they did was not dick move and happens pretty much all the time when filming is involved. POACHING someone's hard work without offering to help is the real dick move. As far as I know, from the people that I know, and my experience in the industry..there is a high level of respect among pro snowboarders for what the top skiers are doing. It's only the wannabes, that get a free pair of skis from a rep, have a 3 chip camera, and a dope 'insert name' production company that are perpetuating a skier vs snowboarder reivalry. You guys on this forum are the ones making something negative out of this. Travis and crew did nothing of malicious intent.

we have owned the backcountry for years now, i doubt they destroyed chads to piss of skiiers. anyways, when i build a hit and lil shits go and mess it up, i get really really pissed. so maybe it wasnt so bad for snowboarders to do that. itll be back next year so stop bitchin.

It makes sense if they took it down cause its a liability, but if they just recked it cause they didnt want people hitting it who didnt help thats stupid as hell. Its no extra skin off ur ass if someone else hits it when ur not there and its alot easier for them. Just another reason everyone hates snowboarders.

i suggest everyone read the article in Snowboarder mag issue 1, and get over this...and seem some great photos of those guys killing the grizzly gaps.
