Traveling With Beer in Your Checked Luggage?

So tomorrow I am going back to Park City after being in Pittsburgh for Thanksgiving and want to bring back some beer back to Utah in my checked luggage. I have been told by Salt Lake Int Airport security that you are allowed to bring back beer but not liquor. After he told me this he said however that it might not be a good idea due to the fact that the cargo area in the plane is not pressurized and could possibly make the beer cans break. Any thoughts on weather or not the cans will break?

Hmm I remember a soccer ball of mine stretching when I was on my way back from France. I think it was on my carry on too. I would just drink it now if I were you.

I was gone bring back like a case and a half...the reason I am trying to take some back is beer in Utah is 3.2% and the full strength beer they sell in the liquor shop is like 2.25 each or so...

you possibly have a quantity issue there..

I bought back a fwe bottles because i wanted some overseas beer that i couldnt get in my country..Even though it is domestic travel, bringing back that quantity may very well have implications.

Yah they could burst, but I've done it a bunch with liqour and had no problems...if it freezes down there though it could explode, and that wouldnt affect liqour because it freezes at a much much lower temp.

I am 21, the cold is the largest problem I think, I might try to wrap them in something to keep them insulated and then put that into a garbage bags (to hopefully catch all the beer if it dose explode.)

my grandmother stuffed my suitcase once with liquor for my parents that was a flight from poland to canada whihc is 9 hours and my grandfather also put sum like premium beer for my dad to try nothing ever froze or exploded and i was 12 years old back then and no one ever stopped us or anything....

three or four years ago i flew from milwaukee to san diego with a 24 pack of leine's honey weiss in my carryon. the guy looked at me funny when he x-rayed it, but i didnt get stopped. that was before there were liquid restrictions on planes though.

dude, read the thread. he wants normal strength beer to bring back with him to have in Utah because Utah's alcohol laws are homosexual and regular beer in utah is expensive as fuck.

God I hate this argument, but here it goes. Utah measures their beer as the % of alcohol/vol. Eveywhere else in the country does it %/weight (or vice-versa, i cant really remember, im in CO right now). Therefore a 3.2% in Utah terms is really like a 4.something% to everyone else. In essence we have to drink a 13-pack to compare to evreyone elses 12-pack. Besides, high point beer isn't even that much more expensive in the L-store, just got to know what to get.

shouldnt be a prob, last year i went from denver to vegas to LA then sydney with 2 cans of jesus juice...

i was only 19 at the time, and never got checked, and it was fine when i got home...

maybe i was just lucky...

Most of the transplanted pennsylvanians I know beg their friends to bring them Yuengling or Yuenger black and tan. If I road trip out west this year I'm gonna have to stock the back of the truck with that stuff for old friends.

yeah he knows whats up, and you can buy decent beers in the liqour store that are 6% for like $1 if you find the right kind, the hery weinhardt shit is pretty good and under a dollar a beer, plus shitty beers like bud or keystone are the same anyways

do it. my mom works at the airport and puts alcohol in my luggage whenever I go on vacations. She says that anyone can do it.... the TSA people have no clue how old the bag owner is, etc.
