Traveling internationally with fishing rods

Whaddup guys? I'm currently traveling around Europe and my Granddad has just given me a vintage bamboo fly rod! I'm really stoked but also worried that some asshole in airport security (going to Prague in a couple days before flying back to America from there) will snap it or something.

Anybody around here have experience traveling through European (particularly Czech) airports with fishing rods? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

No experience, but with something that long i'd try and find the biggest cardboard tube you can (https://www.cardboardtubes.com.au/cb-tubes-products/transit-packaging) (so it'll fit in), wrap it up in a load of bubble wrap, and ship it back to your address in the states, and not try take it with you on the plane. Idk how much it'd be, probably a fair chunk, but I wouldn't risk taking it via airline, even if they'd let you.

Hey dude, thanks for the advice! I'm definitely considering shipping it but it's also, fortunately, a four-piece rod so it can fit into my carry-on/ checked bag no problem! Its stored in a little wrap bag so I'm also considering getting a protective case but I'd rather not waste the money if I don't have to as nothing is cheap here in the UK!

Go to a fishing store and get a purpose-built case. You will want one to store it in anyway. Shouldn't be too expensive, even in Europe.
